2024 Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) CPT Codes, Billing, and Reimbursements

In this video, we discuss the 2024 CPT codes for Annual Wellness Visits, or AWVs, including billing requirements and reimbursement rates. Annual Wellness Visits are a Medicare program for yearly patient assessments. We’ll cover the Initial Preventive Physical Examinations (IPPE), Initial Annual Wellness Visit, Subsequent Annual Wellness Visit. We’ll also discuss how you can add Advanced Care Planning (ACP) and the new Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) Assessment during an Initial and Subsequent Annual Wellness Visit. After watching, you’ll have a better understanding of the elements of an AWV including health risk assessments (HRA). You'll also know how to bill for each type of visit if you’re a physician practice, Rural Health Clinic (RHC), or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). We’ll cover the CPT codes G0402, G0438, G0439, and G0468 for FQHCs. We’ll also discuss CPT code 99497 and 99498 for Advanced Care Planning as well as G0136 for the Social Determinants of Health Assessment and when these can be added to a wellness visit.
