Clayton Equipment Gedling Colliery Motorway

The Clayton Equipment flameproof locomotive formed part of the Gedling Colliery 'Motorway', first installed in March 1983.
This locomotive helped to increase productivity by 65,000
tonnes per year, and to reduce the travelling time by 2 hours per shift for every one of the 144 miners.
The locomotive hauled the train at 25 mph for the distance of 3 miles. The 60 tonne consist operated from the 500 v dc
overhead line.
