For anyone looking for a budget option for running a line out with IR from a vintage style amp, many people don't realise that the NuX Solid Studio does this. I have one in the back of my amp. I run it with the power amp sim off and an Ownhammer cab IR and I've had plenty of compliments on my guitar tone from the FOH people. As with this one, it's not a load. The Solid Studio runs _between_ the amp and the loudspeaker. But I get a consistent, great tone with no messing around setting up mics.
Yes, Ive been using the CABM+ for the same application (cab sims). It works well..there is alot of tweaking possible, too. The market for this is getting crowded if anyone is selling into it..they better bring their A Game.
Ross from Two notes here - there's a myriad of updates included TSM preamps, MIDI integration, USB-C connectivity and a whole heap of hardware upgrades to accomodate the higher gain tones this unit offers. There's also a handy dual mono routing option letting you choose what processing comes out of the XLR and 1/4-inch outputs! Let me know if you have any more questions!
hi Pete, nice video as usual, love your music its awesome, it always make me want to buy the product. I am also from Canada! Just a question i am on the market to look fender style clean amp, i know tone master pro does a really good job but its 2500 CAD which is too expensive, would you say this is best modeler for fender style preamp? Thanks for your videos!!
Great pedal... Looked up their asking price, this is something I'll probably buy in large part for that acoustic preset. I have a lot of acoustics with UST pickups. For those just interested in an acoustic imaging pedal, the Fishman Aura Spectrum DI does this sort of thing as well. For a fee, Fishman will even let you send them your acoustic guitar and they will build the image for it using really high quality microphones, etc... but the built in images work well.
Hi Pete, I just run a Orange pedal baby into a 60watt Orange cab, I only run pedals and use a DI BOX to FOH. Curious if this unit would replace/work in my pedal chain?? Sounds very impressive 👏 👌
What about pedals after it? Two Notes recommends running modulation delays and reverbs after the opus through that line out but no one is showing that off.
Thanks Pete for another great review. Looks like the editor program is where the magic tweaks happen, not easy to do with just two nobs for control. Sounds great on bass, acoustic, and the clear crystal clean sound is great!
Building a small board for my son. We are upgrading him from POD Go. Its basic: comp, couple DRVs, terraform, collider. What IR loader would you recommend?
Extremely interesting! What do you think of the responsiveness when changing from a preset/DynIR/preamp to another, especially considering the MIDI connectivity? The classic use case would be to use a a more headroom-y preamp for clean wah sound in verses, and then dial in a slightly overdriven preamp for choruses. Would that include an unpleasant silence in between parts?
Hi Master Kudos! 🙏 I would like to see some solutions on how to integrate effect pedals (reverb, delay, modulations) with the Opus. The "in front of Opus" option seems to be the only one. ANNND... no stereo... is right? So x2 Opus if one want it... just like the CAB M+ (i have 2 of them and i think i must sell both).
Dude, that acoustic transformation was SHOCKING…I’m definitely getting one of these bad boys for my acoustic board. I wonder how it’ll pair with my k&k mini transducers. Hopefully it sucks…teach me a lesson…
How did it work out? ….I’m considering paring this with my Maton 808 TE. It already has a great dual system pickup, but think this could take it up a level?
Hi Pete ! Awesome demo😍 Is the acoustic IR a two notes product or a third party IR we can get somewhere ? Because as far as I know, acoustic IR are not available in the two notes store 😢 Thank you so much, it sounded amazing
The hummingbird IR was just an included impulse response that I tried, and it works instantly as you hear in the video to enhance the sound of the under saddle pick up on my Gibson and make it sound much more realistic, like a microphone on a guitar in a room
@@PeteThornthere is a workaround to this. I run a cable from my fx loop send from my Friedman JEL-20 into the Opus and switch off the preamp in the Opus but use it’s power amp and cab sims. Sounds incredible and then also works as an amazing attenuator when running out to a PA/FRFR speaker. So basically I’m using my amp’s preamp and the Opus power amp/cab sim. No load box required
Hey Pete! Now that you're a Two Notes guy, I have a question about my set up. I have a Vox Ac15hw and a Power Station attenuator. SInce the Power Station acts as a reactive load box, what Two Notes product can I use to record direct? I assume I would come out of the Power Station's line out into an IR loader then into my interface? Which Two Note products could I use? Is the Opus an option? Thanks!
Ross from Two notes here. OPUS is indeed a great option for this - it features a 3-way input selector for Instrument, Amp and Live levels - Simply set this to Line, disable the TSM preamp emulation and you're set!
@@RossDaviesTwoNotes Ross, two inportant questions: 1) So, I can simply take a line out of my Power Station to the Opus and that would still satisfy the amp's need for a load? and 2) Am I then able to disconnect the amp's speaker, or do I need to leave it connected? I remember reading something about this subject, but cannot recall the specifics. Thanks!
Impulse responses can be used for many different things, including speaker cab/mic simulation, room simulation, and yes, you can even make an impulse response of a microphone on an acoustic guitar…
Can’t tell about this one, but original CAB M+ with Fender-like preamp sim had pretty decent sound. Comparing them face to face TONEX gives more real amp feel, but it’s much harder to get tone you like. And for the IRs CAB is a way better than stock TONEX profiles.
Ross from Two notes here! We wont go into the which one sounds better, but we spent an insane amount of time voicing the launch TSM preamps included on the unit! If you get a chance to demo one, we're sure you'll be impressed! :)
Sounds great and seems like a well made product... but it seems to have a big drawback for my (like my CAB M+) in that it doesn't do stereo right? I find that's a weird limitation in 2023.
I guess the saving grace here is the price. Otherwise it's pretty underwhelming. Another modeler with IRs. The acoustic SIM was nice. Maybe I have gear fatigue😢. The demo was great as always and Pete always knows how to get a great sound.
Many thanks, Pete. Presumably, this means the same thing could be done on other similar products like the Nux Trident that you reviewed. Great playing, by the way. Hope to see you in Shrewsbury in the New Year!
The new Mooer multi effect (Prime 2) is smaller, and also supports external IRs. I also have a NUX Mighty Plug Pro, tiny, but that thing sounds like ass.
Ross from Two notes here - there is no FX loop but there is dual mono routing between the XLR and 1/4-inch outputs; as such you can run an FX chain off one of the outputs and designate what signal processing block feeds this output!
@@cristianrinconguio755 In this instance, you could not implement this. We feel you would be better adding Delay and Reverb after the cabinet emulation for Studio-like processing and OPUS can certainly accomodate this providing your Reverb and Delay devices can accept a line level input.
@@RossDaviesTwoNotesi’d want to use this as my live pedalboard (no real amp) setup: So if I put my tuner, compressor, drives before the pedal, then my delay and reverbs after it - I’d be losing the headphone out to hear the effects after and also the DI (to FOH) would only hear what’s before it also right? I’d have to di box from the reverb which defeats this idea?
@@ShredBrosLTD Thanks for getting back to us. What is the context of your live performance setting? In most instances there are breakout boxes available for the feed to FOH although you may need a DI solution if your post FX can only send unbalanced signals; in addition, you could request a fold-back mix direct from the desk for headphone monitoring of your rig as a whole - this would have the added benefit of being able to blend in the rest of the band accompaniment with your monitor mix.

This is driving me crazy... What's that bassline from? I've heard it a million times, I know what it is, but my memory is just failing me right now. Help!
So basically a "new product" just to add a bunch of preamp sims to the CAB M+... oh, how wonderful. This should've been a FREE SOFTWARE UPDATE in the CAB M+, not a whole new unit!! You see? That's exactly why I can't trust investing my money in these leech companies, that force you to buy the SAME product over and over again to just add few features that should've come FREE with a simple software update in the unit already owned. Now, a REALLY GOOD hardware upgrade of the CAB M+, would've been a STEREO CAB M+. The whole internet is asking for a stereo CAB M since forever, and here's how Two Notes is listening: By charging us twice for the same reheated soup, chapeau!
Ross from Two notes here! We understand cosmetically it may look very similar to C.A.B. M+, however on the inside it's a very different affair. In order to accomodate the high-gain pre's a complete overhaul of the C.A.B. M+ architecture was required and sadly the C.A.B. M+ wouldn't be able to accomodate the new features we've included.
Well the truth is, this is the world of electronic items of any kind. These aren't guitars or a drum set. These are electronic items that have processors and chips and electronics in them which unfortunately cannot be replaced. As soon as you buy ANY electronic item like a computer, laptop or a phone or anything else, the clock begins ticking on its lifespan due to its inherent limitations on the hardware side. I'm sure the company will max out as much as possible the firmware and the software capabilities of the unit you have but there's only so much they can do due to the limitations of the hardware. For example I own an RME Babyface. It's the original model and it plays and sounds wonderful. RME is one of the best companies out there for updating its firmware and drivers and there's no exception with the Babyface. But the newer FS model has much better latency and other features. They're simply nothing I can do or anyone else for that matter to make it a better product. If I want the better latency and other features of the newer Babyface, I have to buy it. Simple as.
@@Joe-mz6dc Sage advice right here - we would like to add, we always push our DSP to the absolute limit with all of our releases and we are committed to supporting our legacy products as much as possible for ultimate longevity!
Ross from two notes here - yes, there are no foot-switches, however there is full MIDI capability built in - meaning this can sit at the end of your board for completely fuss free switching! :)
Ross from Two notes here. There is an enhancer built into the unit which adds a degree of compression. There is no built in Audio interface - let us know if you have any other questions!
@@RossDaviesTwoNotes thanks! I'm a CAB M+ user, enjoy the size, tones and form factor, but lack usb recording interface slows my recording work flow a bit when inspiration strikes
I'd imagine the difference here is going to be the tweakability of the Cab Dynamic IRs. The boss packs more in on the amp front, but they can't touch Two Notes on the cabs.
true, even though I found myself using a few well miked IRs rather than constantly messing with the virtual mic position, so I am not really looking at this as an advantage. Of course ability to load Two notes proprietary format is a plus

@@RossDaviesTwoNotes Gotcha! Thanks, Ross!
Thanks!
I didnt realize there was an IR for acoustic guitar. Isn’t an IR a speaker emulation?
Impulse responses can be used for many different things, including speaker cab/mic simulation, room simulation, and yes, you can even make an impulse response of a microphone on an acoustic guitar…
Why does this sound so good? I wonder how this compares to the tonex as far as feel.
It's him. Can make anything sound good.
Any JBL or Jensen Sims??
I was hoping they'd include NAM model sopport. Since Genome has it.😢
Sounds great and seems like a well made product... but it seems to have a big drawback for my (like my CAB M+) in that it doesn't do stereo right? I find that's a weird limitation in 2023.
Ross from Two notes here. There is no Stereo output but there is a dual mono routing option for the XLR and 1/4-inch outs.
Buy two. I did with the M+ worked great with two Origin Effects preamps left and right.
@@RossDaviesTwoNotes Hello ross. That is an improvement but it's not the same as stereo.
@@markcooper9497 Sage advice right here! Great suggestion Mark!
@@StephaneBergeronPixelyzed Oh agreed 100%, however if you have Stereo Processors (Spacial FX), these can always be placed after OPUS.
looks like it goes on sale tomorrow....?
Ross from Two notes here! It's actually on sale now!
I’m confused… Can I plug this straight into a clean tube combo amp?
Between the amp and speaker, yes. Your amp still needs a load.
I guess the saving grace here is the price. Otherwise it's pretty underwhelming. Another modeler with IRs. The acoustic SIM was nice. Maybe I have gear fatigue😢. The demo was great as always and Pete always knows how to get a great sound.
Forgive my ignorance, Pete, but if there’s no acoustic amp model in the opus, how have you created the preset? Is it not based on an amp model?
Quick addition: I realise it’s based on an IR but isn’t that linked to an amp model?
No, it’s just an IR, plus some EQ and verb.
Many thanks, Pete. Presumably, this means the same thing could be done on other similar products like the Nux Trident that you reviewed. Great playing, by the way. Hope to see you in Shrewsbury in the New Year!
aside the great guitar sounds , the bass kick in !! just badass ! thank you buddy !
Does this replace my Kemper?
How to foot pedal thru presets without a midi switch?
The new Mooer multi effect (Prime 2) is smaller, and also supports external IRs. I also have a NUX Mighty Plug Pro, tiny, but that thing sounds like ass.
Ross from Two notes here! It may support IRs, however OPUS features a DynIR engine which offers cabinets equivalent to 160K static IRs! :)
@@RossDaviesTwoNotes nice!
fx-loop?
Ross from Two notes here - there is no FX loop but there is dual mono routing between the XLR and 1/4-inch outputs; as such you can run an FX chain off one of the outputs and designate what signal processing block feeds this output!
@@RossDaviesTwoNotes But it works for only output, and return? for example, Delay after amp and before cab? How it works?
@@cristianrinconguio755 In this instance, you could not implement this. We feel you would be better adding Delay and Reverb after the cabinet emulation for Studio-like processing and OPUS can certainly accomodate this providing your Reverb and Delay devices can accept a line level input.
@@RossDaviesTwoNotesi’d want to use this as my live pedalboard (no real amp) setup:
So if I put my tuner, compressor, drives before the pedal, then my delay and reverbs after it - I’d be losing the headphone out to hear the effects after and also the DI (to FOH) would only hear what’s before it also right? I’d have to di box from the reverb which defeats this idea?
@@ShredBrosLTD Thanks for getting back to us. What is the context of your live performance setting? In most instances there are breakout boxes available for the feed to FOH although you may need a DI solution if your post FX can only send unbalanced signals; in addition, you could request a fold-back mix direct from the desk for headphone monitoring of your rig as a whole - this would have the added benefit of being able to blend in the rest of the band accompaniment with your monitor mix.
Amazing really i love shows like sam and cat and victorious you are an amazing artist really Pete i hope one day my dreams it comes true to play guitar with you its my dream i love pop rock music im grew with nickelodeon shows 🎸🌞🌟⭐⭐🌟🌞🎸🎸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎸🎸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
But does it Sound better then the old one??
insane
Interesting. Thanks Pete and greetz from Germany. Carsten ✌🏻
I turn my head for a second.....poof....another groovy pedal ✌️
This is driving me crazy... What's that bassline from? I've heard it a million times, I know what it is, but my memory is just failing me right now. Help!
The Chain
@@cheintz44 yup. Took me a good 10 or 15 minutes but the guitar part came to me and eventually the rest.
Disappointing. Was hoping for a stereo version of the C.A.B. M. On the upside, this will keep me from spending more money! Haha
The whole internet is asking for a stereo CAB M since forever, and here's how Two Notes is listening:
By charging us twice for the same reheated soup, chapeau!
Yayyyy
Love Two Notes stuff but "no foots" again??????
Ross from two notes here - yes, there are no foot-switches, however there is full MIDI capability built in - meaning this can sit at the end of your board for completely fuss free switching! :)
Is there a compressor? Does it work as an interface?
Yes there is a compressor. It's not an interface but does have a USB C port.
So, if I don’t own all of the guitars used in this video, it doesn’t worth the buy.
I prefer 3 good channels like the ReVolt and not this, sure they have different uses but sound wise Opus' amps are noth that great.
Isn't it almost the same thing as Boss IR-200? Also has MIDI. You even had a similar demo acoustic guitar demo with it on this channel.
