@@beegeesbuster1 I don't think they ever really had many listeners outside of Denmark. Their music was so intrinsically Danish, with their lyrics generally playing with the Danish language, that I doubt many non-Danes would like them.
@@Wishbone1977 That is correct but therefore they can still be the pride of danish music, it is called Danish after all. You yourself state Kim Larsen, most of his songs are also in Danish. So for us danes they are something to be proud of.
And yes i like the way they play with the language like eg. the song Askepot. And as a Bee Gees fan i like the their song Gebis, that ofcourse is a reference to their perfect teeth.
@@beegeesbuster1 I wasn't the one who mentioned Kim Larsen, but I get what you're saying. I just don't see the point of "promoting" Shu-Bi-Dua to non-Danes, as they won't be able to understand it anyway. Because let's be honest, with most of Shu-Bi-Dua's catalog the lyrics are way more important than the music. So I guess what I'm saying is that while we can certainly be proud of Shu-Bi-Dua, it's a pride that only makes sense to Danes.

2 different singers in this one just for info. The lead singer in voldbeat is Michael Poulsen and the guy singing the danish part is johan olsen who is lead singer in another danish band called "Magtens korridorer"

volbeat is a Danish band, and the chorus in this song was sung (in Danish) by Johan Olsen, from the Danish group "magtens corridor" (which translated means something like "from the corridors in the government.)
Michael Poulsen started as a grunch / death metal singer, and only when he started Volbeat together with 2 from the former band did he start "real singing".
michael is a big Elvis and Johnny fan, and it's what you can hear in his voice that makes it unique.
the chorus of this song means "maybe forever, maybe forever, we're going the same way"
there is P.T. 8 albums out, with volbeat, all of which have some good and bad tracks, but all of them have Michael's beautiful voice.
(side note. the name "volbeat" is a tribute to his former band, their last album was called Vol.beat.

What you are hearing in Michael Paulson's voice is that his favorite singer growing up was Elvis. I suspect this is what you are hearing in most of all the singers you mentioned. Elvis's voice combined opera/blues/soul/country/and rock, all taught to him by a black man.

I don't think you've done any Chevelle yet, their singer, Pete Loeffler, is heavily influenced by Maynard and does a pretty good job. Their music is a little more straight forward compared to Tool but they've still put out some damn good stuff and they can be a lot heavier than Tool ever gets. Also, if you want a Maynard hook, Pete might be the next best thing in terms of vocal quality.
If you do check them out "Vitamin R (leading us along)" is their biggest hit and a good introduction to their style and sound, check out "The Clincher", "The Red" and/or "Emotional Drought" if you liked what you heard.
