Once they started these back in the day would they have to periodically shut them down to lube them or could they run pretty much nonstop 24 seven? if we ever had a magnetic pulse event EMP type deal ect. things like this would be a great asset to have around.
If you look at the horizontal side shaft, there's an eccentric running a mechanical lubricator so it can basically run forever without having to be stopped.
Imagine the torque that thing will dish out????? Wow it doesn't bare thinking about. Some turning power I would be interested to know how much it makes?
The poor old thing is worn out. Valve gear very noisy, you can hear the rollers banging. Combustion gases are leaking past the intake valve. They used ether to start it - that should not be necessary. The need for ether indicates compression is very poor.
@@TANISLA2 thanks for your reply, didnt realise it was first runs, can understand the caution, hopefully it can be sorted, i look forward to seeing it run at rated rpm. regards
What an excellent sound, magnificent.
This is up there with the dubstep fairbanks morse
Nothing excellent about it, it sounds worn out, or at least badly in need of adjustment. It's like listen to something in pain.

Wonderfull engine, this must be the Anson Engine Museum, Anson Road, Poynton, England, SK12 1TD
I will have to pop down from Macclesfield and have a look, not been for a few years
keep up the good work
Clanking and blowing!
2:22 It was at this moment that Alf realised she was beginning to over speed from 90 RPM to a dizzying 120 RPM....
Great achievement well done to all involved.
Great sound
Wonderful

Lovely thing. Is that big klonk we can hear piston slap?
Nice beautiful engine fantastic!!!! I think the problem with that engine is that leaking inlet valve it is loosing a lot of compression:-(((

a beautiful big old engine but the way it runs is very sad, years ago an engine like that would be shot and put out of it's misery.
As this one of the engines first runs so it’s early days, but once we’ve got to know the engine I’m sure it’ll run sweetly!
