  • In this one Sawyer gives you an update on how the pigs are doing up at site 3, then it’s on to making repairs at our site 1 hog barn. Greasing anchor bearings, checking motor oil & replacing an anchor bearing.
    Welcome to it! This’ll Do Farm is a 6th generation family farm located in Southeast Iowa that is run by a father-son duo Tork and Sawyer. Sawyer and Tork are the force behind their family farm taking care of pigs, along with farming the family’s acres. Together, they promote agriculture in a positive light by recording their day-to-day life’s on the farm. Both Tork and Sawyer have a burning desire to grow the farm bigger and bigger and hope to showcase to the world what it takes to be a farmer. Come along for the ride!

    My youngest shows Duroc's they really in my opinion are the best pork you can get. He really enjoys working with his hogs. Go Cowboys

    Fellow pig producer here, can relate to flex auger fix. Nice to be inside, 20 below and outside gets challenging. I fish the auger out by pushing a short piece of flex in and twist it into the auger and then pull it back out. Has always worked for me.

    Just an fyi. Instead of using screwdrivers to get that flex auger out of the tube, take a small piece of flex auger, 6-10’ or whatever you need and push it in the end of the tube where you remove tail bearing from and turn it into the line you want to pull out. They will intertwine in each other then just pull it out.

    My grandpa raised a few hogs years ago. He always said if you want good bacon starve a pig meaning don’t push a lot of feed to them. But man nothing better than a good pork chop with some fat on it the best. Lee up the great work guys god bless

    Great video. I've fixed so many anchor bearings and gear boxes in my hog life, but I've never had to advance that much fliting as you both have. I'd replace that ...

    i would highly highly highly recommend putting motorkote in every gear box on the farm. I run it in every engine, gear box and transmission. **note do not put motorkote in a CVT Transmission.

    Definitely need that fat in pork. Too lean is too dry
    Remember walking out to the barn late at night, there was always at least one pig chewing on a chain
    You are absolutely right about those anchor bearings and augers

  • @jasonsmith5077
    @jasonsmith5077 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is not all you can do. You have multiple options. You can cut the pipe add a coupling after you tie a rope. But by far the easiest is to clamp a rod or screw driver in the closes drop to the anchor bearing then turn your motor on. The motor will turn the auger around the fixed rod inserted into the drop. Really works well . this repair can be done in approx 10-15 min with one guy. Once the auger is exposed turn the motor off and clamp the tail. I actually have a set of vice grips i welded a 2” hitch pin to so i can clamp the vice grips to the pipe or twin outlet at the feed bin. The hitch pin extends into the center of the auger. 2” per 50’ of stretch is what’s required. When i first took over the construction the crew i had would stretch 6-8 foot. I have and will fire someone that does that.

      Industrial hog farms raise out to between 250 to 300, maybe as much as 350, before sending to be processed.
