  • Captain Carson Teva is one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing New Republic Defense Fleet. We take a look at the man, the legend and why he's so capable. Perhaps the NRDF can learn from him.

Teva feels like the kind of old military guys who are quietly retired by politicians for causing too many problems for them. Of course by "problems" I mean focusing on morality and fairness over rules and regulations.

@@kostakatsoulis2922 from what I understand, as from the Star Wars comics and other such sources, Wedge and Luke formed "Rogue Squadron" just after the Battle of Yavin. Throughout the beginning missions of Roque Squadron's formation, the two of them more or less shared command, depending on the mission, but Luke was over all considered the de facto leader as it was he that not only saved Princess Leia and recovered the plans for the Death Star, but of course he dealt the killing blow to the station. However, as Luke's attention became more focused on matters of the Jedi, Wedge basically took over Rogue Squadron. He (Wedge) was of course in command of Rogue Squadron, (designated Red Group) at Endor.

I think that was his purpose in that scene. To help viewers like you react to this news of another Jedi existing in the Star Wars universe that you've never heard about. Also watch Rebels. Seriously you're missing out on some really good Jedi content. Kanan Jarrus is what the Jedi Masters of old should have been.

We've seen the Ghost in the Battle of Exogul, so I like to think that Carson was on the Ghost as one of the gunners. He has been shown to be more loyal to Hera than the New Republic at this point, so maybe he'll resign his commission and go with Phoenix Leader should Hera lose her rank as General as a result of this unauthorized mission. It would be foolish not to call/accept someone like Carson back to service, knowledgeable fighters with experience and likely leadership potetial would have been a big asset given the nature of the Galaxy and the Imperial's army (where most of the career leaders would be)

Would like to point out a small bit about the New Republic hierarchy, as stated, not a lot has changed when it comes to bureaucratic decision making. Even Mon Mothma, for all she did to help bring about the end of the Empire, she still hasn't learned the danger of bureaucratic interference. But there is still one senator/general/princess that does, and she is given brief mention in the series ("Ahsoka") as to being in support of General Syndulla. Of course, I'm talking about the de-facto leader of "The Resistance," General Leia Organa.

I feel like Anakin Skywalker and Carson Teva would've made a fantastic duo in the Clone Wars. When there's too much complacency from people in charge, it's as bad as actually BEING a bad leader. Sometimes I wonder what things would've been like had Yoda stepped down from being Grand Master, if the Council was interchangeable and not life long seats. They were ALL complacent in the creation of Darth Vader. Not to mention sending child soldiers into war...so much trauma the younglings could've avoided, from Kanan to Ahsoka to Cal if things had just been DIFFERENT.

In a profession where many young men die, beware the old man 😎 Yes us Grey beards might be a little podgy, we might have a few pains in our knees and backs but we have experience and lost the need to want to impress others. We learned how to kick butt quickly, with the minimal amount of moves, conserve our energy and move on. Plus we're old, A person in that profession, that has seen first hand how someone could be there one second then vaporised the next and is still doing it has not only learned how not to get deleted but is not afraid of it. They know how and when to take risks. If respect is earned by the teaspoon and lost by the truckload we have lost far more than any youngling and we have forgotten more ways to kick butt than they have learned. We also know if we go down, people will riot so we do indeed become more powerful than our enemies can possibly imagine 😉

My read on Teva was that he used to essentially operate like a covert intelligence operative as well as a pilot - most likey running operations for the Rebellion in deep Imperial territory. He is all too aware of how local level and larger scale politics work and all too effective at manipulating people to get the results he is looking to achieve. With the revelations in Ahsoka I'm evaluating him more like a more morally "good" version of Luthen Rael. You can easily see someone who is used to engaging in covert operations working the way Teva does with local groups and bending the word of the law when necessary to get the best results.

It's like Legends Wedge Antilles. If he disappears, the Alliance/New Republic falls.

I can see some Anakin and Rex in Captain Carson Teva. Even if he has never met either of them, he really knows how flawed the New Republic is with bureaucrats running the government and it's his job to try to keep everything and everyone's BS together.

Trust me it isn't just Clone Wars fans that enjoyed this breath of fresh air in the Ahsoka series, as an original fan of Star Wars when episodes IV-VI came out in theaters, this has alot of George Lucas's influence in it, and it is definitely good to see Hayden reprise his role as Anikan even if it's just him as a force ghost he brings life to the character that made Star Wars what it is.

Teva probably fought against the old Empire from the rooftops of his family restaurant

That's Captain Carson Teva HERO OF THE REPUBLIC to you! And to everyone else! That man has been fighting for Galactic Freedom (with a capital G and a capital F) since most of the New Republic were punk kids. He would have been 20 at the end of the Clone Wars. And, maybe he got his start in the Rebellion - but an OG like that? Who knows. But there's no way he wasn't around at the Battle of Yavin.

I have got a feeling that season 4 of The Mandalorian will feature the adventures of the Adelphi Rangers. Zeb and possibly Callus are members of the Adelphi Rangers and Din and Grogu will be unofficial Rangers. Also the X-Wing pilots in Episode 5 of Ashoka could also become Rangers.

Carson Teva is the Disney canon equivalent of legends Wedge Antilles

Could you imagine if all these episodes - andor, ahsoka, mando, obi wan, heck even boba fett all came out BEFORE the sequel trilogy we’d be so fucking amped for it. But now we know that it all will culminate in “somehow palpatine returned”. It doesn’t take away from the quality of some of these shows but it does sour it a bit.
