    If we continue to sit in open awareness will mental objects eventually all disappear

    • @davewieder3227

      Mental phenomena and mental phenomena? Will they eventually disappear?

    • @eugenei7170

      @@davewieder3227 No, awareness has its innate creative energy that manifests phenomena. In the natural state we do not try to manipulate awareness and make it stop manifesting phenomena. All phenomena are primordially pure and perfect, the problem is not that phenomena arise. The problem is in our mistaken interpretation of what these phenomena are. It is only our conceptual thoughts and judgements that picture them as good or bad, as separate external objects that we want to possess or are afraid of. So, once we realize that and abide in the natural state, then there is no reason for us to want phenomena to disappear.

      There are times in which all disappears

      @@eugenei7170 Thank you Eugene. I’m not “trying” to stop the mental events nor manipulate them. I just watch. But the longer I stay here watching the quieter the mind becomes. I know there are always more and more subtle events that arise, and that we can become aware of and this ability will improve with the practice. But I have experienced the other senses essentially shutting down if I’m single point focussed on the events in the mind. What happens when you are going through the death process with awareness?

    • @eugenei7170

      @@davewieder3227 OK, well, what you are describing is going through 8 levels of jhana as it was described by the Buddha in Pali Canon. The 4 higher jhanas are absent of phenomena. If people meditate in these formless states and get attached to them, they may end up reincarnating in arupadhatu (formless) realms that are not considered to be good reincarnations (you can read about that in the Buddhist cosmology literature).
      In Dzogchen we do not focus only on the events in the mind, and we don't use the method of one-pointed meditation. Instead, we keep our focus wide open as open awareness of any arising phenomena (mental or sensory) without accepting or rejecting any of them.

    When we reveal our true nature, our primordial mind(which is all-encompassing)- should we be able to know everything about any thing in the universe, isn't it? For example - to know what is going on in 1000km away, in other city. To know what will come in future, etc. I think this can be a really proof of our expirience.
    Because guys, let's be realistic- we can imagine and inspire any feeling(like I'm a vast primordial mind) to ourself, but we need a proof. Like, oh you are all-encompassing mind? Okay, tell me what is going on other city in some place right now.

    • @Escrublet

      why would that be the case? have you experienced it? it really does not function in that way. It is beyond a concept of distance. what would you do to do that? by what function would an infinite conceptless universe be commanded to "go look 1000km away and see whats there?" It is infinite because it is empty. It is just things arrising endlessly timelessly. There is no space or time. These are just concepts like little ripples that appear within it..

    • @molh394

      it's really an experiential reality thing rather than a consensus reality thing. if you are looking for proof in the value of the teachings - perhaps start with beginner meditations first? see through our mental projection of a universe "out there" (not that we deny its existence) and see how that benefits you first. rather than think in terms of physical proof, displays of extraordinary powers, and the like.
