Meeting traffic for me as been, by far, the thing I've felt the least comfortable with when learning to drive. This video has been a great help, many thank for taking the time to make it.

As someone with autism and dyspraxia, I am waiting on a decision from the DVLA as to whether or not I should be able to drive but I am already researching how to drive and I find your videos to be incredibly useful. You are definitely easing my anxiety and have videos answering all the questions I have! Thank you so much!

Thank you for taking the time to cover these concepts. I'm starting to understand that new learners (myself included) make mistakes in these situations only because most trainers never get around to explaining the correct approach.
Your channel has smashed my driving anxiety as a learner, thank you SO SO MUCH.

Extremely well explained using graphics to demonstrate all sorts of various scenarios, backed up by real in-car situations. Also the importance of looking *both right AND left* when entering (and giving way to) a road with parked cars from a sideroad. Every day is a day at school. Thank you. Best. Noel

My test is tomorrow and this is a big struggle for me. I've been binge watching your videos and they are so helpful (especially as my test is in Colchester!), so regardless of the results tomorrow, thanks for the help! The way you explain each section of driving is so helpful for a someone with an anxiety disorder as it helps me have a "textbook" of knowledge in my head for every situation

I like how he proper just relays all the information without taking ages like some other videos. good when you really just want to get the relevant information. I also like the expressiveness and intermingled humor and alot of good solid info as afforestated. (meaning more than just this one vid as have watched a fair bunch thus far.
I personally get on much better with this than 'advance drivin school' for example. Different way of learning just more compatable with me personally, also like some from a fella called Chris but for me this works best

    1. Give way for oncoming cars before you proceed
    2. Give way to a committed (to close to stop) car
    3. Flash light - Request others to proceed
    4. On a right bend - slow down to 10 mph or less, then stop if someone is there
    5. In case of reversing, least distance reverses
    6. When equal priority - , try to make eye contact
    7. At a junction ve careful to see if someone emerging from junction is not blindly pulling out in the front
    8. If you can fit easily with ample of space , continue going, else wait, else if try to go at slower speed if squeezing in
    9. ** Dont signal when changing lanes near a junction, people may think you are about to turn
    10. Position- 1m distance - can open the door, 10 mph
    11. *hazard on right hand bend , keep left. On left hand bend, keep right - this gives more view
    12. *move out of land extra early to get a good view, so you can move back in
    13. Applies for Any obstruction on the road

7:54 exactly to me once, well, on the test. Residential street, two lanes, but parked cars on both sides. This guy in front in an SUV (reduced vision ahead for me) signaled left after passing a couple of parked cars and went into a space. I thought he was parking. There was no room for me or the cars behind in the opening, so I went past, and there was oncoming traffic (in a better scenario I suppose I could have looked ahead). Bad luck, but I did get a lot of reversing experience (safely, of course). They marked this as a serious fault, which I feel was a bit harsh because I did it safely.

As a forign driver, my mindset is "just because I can fit, doesn't mean I should"
If I can squeeze between oncoming traffic and parked cars on my left, but I feel it is too close for comfort, am I holding traffic up needlessly?
Do I need to adjust my mindset on British roads?

  • @abdullahhussain9589

8:50. One question, would I give extra clearance to oncoming cars by staying extra close to parked cars on my left?or would I give extra space to parked cars by moving slightly to the right, if I was driving in a narrow road shown in 8:50 etc?

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Try and take half the space and give the other half to the oncoming car. Leave a bit more room for larger vehicles.

    Hello Richard
The reasons I struggle with this is
    - some roads in small towns are so narrow that it makes it impossible or very hard to allow a car doors length distance
    - for example you might have to straddle the middle line or enter the right lane in some cases to be able to pass with a doors length distance between you and the car / obstruction
    - often i find with driving advice isn't always clear cut or easy - it often to me feels like damned if you do damned if you dont. For example i have heard people say . Dont look to far ahead , dont look in the mirrors behind you and dont look at the left car too much 😢 how

A couple weeks ago I had a driving lesson and we had been working on the reverse bay park which i did very well with actually. the whole lesson went very well and on way back i stalled while setting off from lights and then about 100 metres down the road for some reason i did not spot a person waiting at zebra crossing and almost went straight into them and my instructor had to use his controls to brake. I could not believe i did this. My instructor said it is because we had been working on reversing and with me just stalling it my mind was probably still on that.
Does that happen often with you at all? I mean with your students.

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

This happens all the time, one of the challenges of learning to drive is learning to keep your mind forwards on the present task at hand and not allow yourself to be distracted by the past... or too far into the future.

Many a time I have people shooting out of a junction ignoring Give Way lines especially when my lane is blocked and not always when a car is coming from the other direction either. Parking on a bend isn't allowed I'm sure but people do! People don't care about distance to junctions for where they park either. I think a lot of drivers need to take there tests again.
