I like this, but what would your strategy be if I wanted to destroy a column or box or whatever, and have a model be what remains. I imagine it's a similar strategy, or making the model a boolean with the fractured geo and have an active=0 or something?

For simplicity let's say you wanted to have a block of marble and have it fracture into a statue. I would boolean the resulting statue from the block of marble and then fracture what is left of the block. As long as the collision is set on the statue it should hold the marble in place until something hits it to fracture and overcome the constraints. If not you can toggle the active setting

@@InsideTheMindSpace Thank you for your reply and video! When you say toggle the active setting though, I suppose that's where I wasn't sure if it was possible with the material fracture node. Is there a way to art direct the active attribute using that node or do I need to make my setup from scratch?

In order to hold the fractured object in place before the impact or whenever you want the object to start falling apart you will need to use the rbd configure node. Without that your object will start simulating immediately

Thanks for asking your question. My goal is to create a community of people that collectively ask and solve problems like this
