Since I filmed this video, I've come across another contender for a top performer in the throttle line up. I've seen it on Harley Milne's, and Mark Huneycutt's units. It has a very ergonomic feel, such as I mention liking here, but also a beautiful cruise control with fine adjustment capability. Chime in if you know the one I'm talking about. I don't mention cruise control much here It's personal preference, but if you are doing long distance ppg xc, it's a wonderful addition to any throttle setup!
@@mwethereld No way would I want to tie up my index finger! It's what I use to manipulate EVERYTHING! Zippers, trim tabs, lines, cameras, instrumentation, all that would be hindered by a chameleon throttle.
I was going to leave a comment about Offgrid Aviations new throttle they’ve got coming out but looks like you’ve already seen it! It looks impressive, can’t wait to try one. Never been too keen on the Vitorazzi throttles either.
Came across this as I design my throttle now. My throttle must have a cruise-control (a stopper to maintain the RPM and free the hand), the mirror and the T°-gauge (EGT is my choice). I use Polini with self-made cruise and EGT.
Youre the best👍 those problems on the polini is the same on miniplanes throttle, i was going to cut the lever a bit but drilled new holes and slided up the strapholder instead after watching this. Thanks!!
A step-by-step on making your throttle would be a great vid, especially if you could do it without 3d-printed parts. I've got the old metal polini throttle, which seems to tick a lot of your boxes. I cut the lever a bit shorter.
Kyle do do you make your throttle for open sale?? Or do you know where to gain access to the the 3d print files?? It looks a good big of kit..cheers for the info..😉👍
Nice descriptive video KO. 👍 Have you tried out the PAP throttle at all? Minimalistic design, light weight, cruise. Of everything I've put in my hand, I like it the most. I'll have to look at it again now that I've watched this.
Glad you did this review....and I agree. Maybe some of the manufacturers will watch it and pay attention....sure! There are some really bad designs out there....go figure! The AC is my favorite too. Thanks for the video.👍
3.28, Your homemade one looks sweet, have you considered using a velcro strap and attaching the body to your wrist, just the lower section and not having a hand strap altogether, in the video, it looks a good possibility, how practical ?, I'm unsure but a hands-free throttle sounds sweet
Have you ever tried the chameleon throttle? I like it because it's on my index finger and the break is in the rest of my fingers for good flair authority!
@@kyleoglee Think it’s worth the trip, this will be my first time and maybe I could be in one of your videos...lol. Going to the Salton Sea fly in first do a little partying with the Team fly halo gang and then off to the circus.
YES! MINIPLANE, Best throttle I've come across, has the 'Kyle Gap' as he wants... BUT also the lower part of the lever contacts the body of the grip... meaning that you can instantly SEE that you're motor is at full power, climb etc. with a quick glance :-) GO MINIPLANE (But perhaps the man has a spin on that???)
I've been in that box! You've got quite a collection. I know you don't do a lot of E-start motors. I ended up with the VortexEro throttle. I like the fuel warning light (although I don't depend on it alone). I'm guessing the cruise knob may be a concern. I have not experienced any line issues yet. It locks in the off position. I like that. But it's still part of my pre-flight check list. Have you had your hands on this one? vortexaero.com/products/xc-e-start-throttle-only

Ac is the gold standard 👌

i need to fit in that box!
Many of the guys in my club like the old Fly product throttle I say old because they just stop selling them. Let see how their new one perform.

Yep
Sitting here watching Kyle's videos and boom a new video pops up.Yeah it's a good day indeed!

I would like to see a mechanical throttle stop set screw in the hand throttle to prevent any excess pressure on the carb linkage if squeezed too hard.
a spring on the end of the cable would stop this, i have it on mine,
Good stuff👍👍👍
Sup Kyle

I like my Polini, I can mount my tacho and cht on it.

Kyle, great video. I am about to upgrade my Blackhawk throttle, you have nailed it’s problems and how to fix them. Thanks!
Those ac throttle can be difficult to get sometimes i just got one from justin fox. Love the ac throttle tho my vitto throttle just broke on me
Ever use one of the industrial weed whacker style throttles with the safety on the back?
Can You show how you build them please. I also use that one but it lacks some quality which I guess you've also noted and solve on your own👍🏻

I imagine it would be a tangle hazard. Also, increased risk of not being able to ditch it if required.

I want my index finger available for trims/zippers/instruments etc. Wouldn't want a chameleon for that reason alone.
@@kyleoglee Cool, Thanks for the reply! Alwas great content by the way!!
where do you get that foam grip for the throttle?
Kyle O, have you had any experience with the Exo throttle?
Great info, thanks Kyle! :)
Have ya tried the Cameleon Throttle...just wondering.
Yes, it's a joke.
Kyle i know its been awhile since this video but if you got the blue parajet throttle still id like to buy it from you. let me know thanks....mark
Hey Kyle, will you be going to the Arizona flying circus this year ?
Would be fun!

Hey Kyle, you can send me those vitto throttles that you dont like.
hmm, you say over the years?????? how many years is that ... mate.more or less then myself?
If it's 6.5 years, then it would be that many. 😎🍻

Yep, it's a knock off polini.
