You should read about the actual life of Lucy Maud Montgomery, there are beautiful moments but lots of really hard times as well. This is a completely romanced life, with only some sad events, but only to build upon later in the story. The same with the Laura Ingalls stories, it was corrected by her daughter to make it light-hearted and entertaining... but it is not wise to idealise the past through such (really lovely) books.
It’s puzzling but lovely that the Anne books recall so many people to their happy childhoods. The books were written by a person who suffered a desolately lonely childhood and young adulthood. Many of the characters are socially awkward, isolated, or deeply lonely. So much so that they retreat into fantasy worlds with imaginary friends in order to survive. Indeed, when Anne first arrives in Avonlea, people suspect that she’s mentally unwell because of her habit of talking to trees and flowers.

@@heather5781 hi.. same here.. but im reading it for first time. I found it from Anne with an E tv show. But I learned that that tv show is way different than book. Are all 8 books i think in this series as interesting as Anne of green gables?
I think it would be but since language and technology has changed so much since this was written she might need a bit of help understanding certain things but yes, I think it is a good book for a ten year old.
I’m not as fond of this book compared to the first because it feels like a completely different Anne and like a different Avonlea. She kind of drops her friendships from the first book and has all these replacement people who are either creepy (Davy) or devoid of a unique personality (Paul). I get that she is grown up but I think her teacher took away a chunk of her dreamy personality when she told her to not be so descriptive and wordy. She kind of turns into this maternal figure for only boys and laughs off every bad behavior. Ofcourse I love the descriptions of the landscapes, Lavender’s story, and the few Gilbert-Anne moments of developing friendship.
Karen Savage’s voice is like music to my ears 👂 her Voice is everything that our dear ANNE needed. And I’m so in love with her voice!

I never started these books until 8th grade. Unfortunately, my school never had us study these books. I hope you are enjoying it, although I can well imagine that you might not (I find it hard to enjoy books the school has me read myself). But I wish you well and luck and a happy summer :)
I'm 73 years old and enjoy it immensely. I discover it by accident and can't be happier. Did you listen to the first book ”Anne of Green Gables?”. I hope you have if not you are must. You will really enjoy it. It's the very beginning of Anne's story.
I’m 19 going into my second year of college. I was reminded that I owned this series when I was unpacking my books for my new apartment! I love the series so much but never finished the books-only watched the movie. I’m so glad it’s available on here :)
@@heather5781 hi.. same here.. but im reading it for first time. I found it from Anne with an E tv show. But I learned that that tv show is way different than book. Are all 8 books i think in this series as interesting as Anne of green gables?
Kindness is Beauty all of the books are equally good. And when you’ve finished all 9 and still find yourself wanting more there is the Emily trilogy.
Nice 🙂👍
Loved the book good voice
Would this be a good book for 10 daughter who's 10?
I think it would be but since language and technology has changed so much since this was written she might need a bit of help understanding certain things but yes, I think it is a good book for a ten year old.
it would be however there might be some words they might not recognize. but yes its a wonderful peace of literature .
@@oliviastephens930 Thank you Olivia. I just noticed I worded myself wrong. Lol😁
