    This is actually something I've noticed just recently. My theory was that it gets more nutrients from more soil on top of the old soil. But maybe it's because the roots 🤔 either way I've been doing this recently and have had really good success! Great tip GT!

  • @klew5988
    @klew5988 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That transplanting trick makes sense. I had over watered a couple of my seedlings and thought they were going to die. I put a couple inches of fresh soil on top and buried the plant up to its first set of leaves and it survived and is now doing well!

    I've always buried the stem just a little. Like planting tomatoes 🍅

  • @alexmckeown123
    @alexmckeown123 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I pretty much thought of doing the burying deeper method however mine was to use airlayering (without the cutting off at the end) so youd have bottom roots as you mentioned then at the surface id have more roots too. Saves a little time waiting for the plant to develop roots up the pot as theyd already have roots mid stem (at the top) from air layering before hand. That way say if you have a 5g pot you could start with it 1/3rd full (6l), air layer, fill 2/3rds (12l), air layer, fill full (20l)

    I'm soaking up as much information as possible from multiple channels as I am hoping to be able to start growing in my state of OH about a year from now, as it seems we may finally have enough support from everyone in the state to vote in legalized recreational use in November 2023 via direct democracy voting and not having to rely on politicians.
    This method you bring up when it comes to transplanting majority of the stem into the soil/medium makes good sense, especially for someone like me with limited vertical space and want's to bush the plant outward horizontally to create more tops at a lower height.
    I will definitely be writing this one down and giving it a try. Thank you.

    Sup GT! Can't wait to see the pup again. They grow so quickly. I do have a related question. Obviously you defoliate everything you bury below the media. Like you don't bury the lower leaves, you pick them off right? And roots will shoot outa the stem.

    • @motojay81
      @motojay81 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      remove all leaves that are in the dirt and from what I've seen, the buried stem will grow roots

    I'm going to try this with my current grow since I'm still at the seedling stage and got weeks before I think about transplant. My question to you is sir, do you just bury the stalk or do you kinda help it by scoring the stalk with a clean knife to help those roots develop faster? Kind of like what you do at the end of a clipping when you take a clone.

    • @jansondennis2438
      @jansondennis2438 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know I'm not GT but that sounds interesting 🤔 the thing I would be scared of is bacteria getting into the main stock. the roots are already there for water exchange just my thoughts

    • @darrkstarg
      @darrkstarg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is like any plant. If you bury it deeper, the stalk will grow roots all by itself where it is buried under dirt.
