    I like how you said you are content. Being able to do the basic things for your kids and to have some savings is what is important right now. I have to always remember to keep working hard and maybe someday we will have more but if we have what we need that is more than ok.

    This may sound funny as I am only 26 and my husband and I are going to start planning for a family in the next few years, but I seriously want you to know your videos are helping me plan. Everything from groceries to budgeting is so helpful to know so it is great to hear from someone who is already an awesome mom :)

    You always impress me with your strength and determination. I cannot imagine having to be a single mom and deal with weight you must have on your shoulders. I never will understand why the other parent acts so selfish. I wish more single parents were like you!! Great job!

    I agree with you, when your budget is tight and you have to find free or cheep things to do kids usualy wil love it. Qualitytime with their parent goes above any toy or hobby especially at that young age!

      Holy crap! I would die! Growing up the house was always 70° in the summer and 72° in the winter probably 68° at night in the winter. But winter here I feel like is MUCH colder! Like it gets to -40°c on a regular basis!! Brrr
      Now that I am grown we keep the house at 68°-69° maybe 71° when it is really cold out! And I already live in sweats and sweaters, usually with my house coat on and under a blanket! Lol

      Amy Dormuth i know what you mean. i live in Pittsburgh. its been very frigid lately. i think the HIGH today was 10 degrees F. When im not home, i keep my heat at 65 (to avoid pipes freezing and to not have the heat go from off to fully heating the house, that costs alot too).... when we are home and its freezing like today, my heat is at 72-75. at night it goes down to 65-68. i wish i would've signed up for the budget plan. i really messed up but it was my first time paying for gas and i truly didnt know how high it could get. my gas bill is $70 for a one bedroom apt. i couldnt imagine the cost for a house! :( Jeni might live in a warmer area where it doesnt freeze all the time.

    • @RAE.ofSunshine
      @RAE.ofSunshine 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      also, i dont think my apt is insulated! my landlord is crappy :( i live in a house.. i am on bottom floor. i dont think the roof is insulated and my heat literally goes "through the roof" haha

    This reminds me of my mom, who did receive government assistance when I was growing up but she budgeted very well. I had what I needed and even had some extras that made life a little bit more fun: I had magazine subscriptions, a Cosmetique subscription and I also had things that were important to the experience of high school like all four yearbooks, physicals required for tennis along with the equipment I needed and all my graduation stuff. People think I like to spend money left and right whenever I get any money in my hands but what they don't realize is how far I actually stretch it. They don't realize it because they just don't care to get to know me well enough. I also had an allowance in which I could buy what I wanted and if a dance came up that I wanted to go to my mom would spot me what I was short on. I have a high level of respect for single moms making their budget work. Your kids will remember this and it will become habit for them too. You're teaching them well. :D

    Oh lord we've been under one of those Internet and basic cable bundle promos for a while, and it expired last month. We initially signed up for it because there were no fast internet options here that were cheaper than a bundle. Weird. Anyway I've called FOUR times to sign up for the new promo and bring our bill back down, gone through the 20 minute process of contract agreement etc aaaaand it still hasn't worked. I wanna just rip the cords out of the wall and give up but I have called every local option and know it's the best deal and I can't really not have Internet so I'm stuck dealing with these dummies. 😜 Felt the need to rant as a I gear up to call another time!

    We normally keep the house at 64degrees but during the day it is warmer just from movement and the sun I'm guessing, I die when I go in my friends house and they keep it at 74degrees! I live in WA but we use AC during too hot of days, im a whimp when it comes to heat. We also signed up for the "cheap hours" program where from 9am to 7pm our power is super super cheap. Then 7pm to 9am is alot more. Being a stay at home mom I save so much money since I do showers and laundry and things during the cheap time. I do have a rule that I don't really budget food, we have to eat but I do try to be cheap. Also if I need to buy something I always check craigslist or offerup first. I bought a $1,000 Costco gift card for $300 on there!

    Great video! You are amazing and so impressed with how you make things work! Do you have life ins? If you don't, especially as a single mom, I would recommend it. You can get a term policy for super cheap with great coverage. I am in my 30s and pay about 17 dollars a month for a 250000 policy. At least it is something, although yes it could be more.

      Good job on being able to have the temperature that low and surviving without AC. We use AC a lot in the summer, and it costs so much, but we use firewood in the winter for heat, so we save a lot there.

  • @SuperVroni80
    @SuperVroni80 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    In Germany we don't have AC's and i only know them from our vacations in spain. During the summertime we have about 85 to 95 degrees /fahrenheit outside and sometimes inside but I just ventilate the house early in the morning and then keep the windows and outside blinds shut. At night we will open all windows and doors inside the house to let the fresh air in.

    • @Dinoman-Roblox
      @Dinoman-Roblox 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ich frag mich ja auch, ob das so gesund ist?! Also AC. An manchen Tagen wäre ich schon froh, wenn wir das in Deutschland hätten. Aber man kann sehr gut ohne leben.

    • @SuperVroni80
      @SuperVroni80 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Das finde ich auch ....und teilweise erkältet man sich auch schneller , wenn es zu kalt eingestellt ist . Rollos runter und fertig ....die paar Tage Hitze überlebt man ohne AC.

    I think it's very nice of you to share all of this info. with your subscribers. It's helpful, interesting and enlightening. I don't know that many people that would be willing to share this info. Are you a homeowner or a renter? I was wondering if I might have missed that info That's usually the largest bill you can have. I've never been a homeowner - only a renter. I don't have to pay for water, gas, etc. but my rent and food bills are massive. NYC is expensive.

    • @jenniferfancher3158
      @jenniferfancher3158 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think that it depends on where you live. When I lived in the northwest, we did not have it. We are in Las Vegas now, and we have TWO central air units, one per floor. Most two story homes here are that way, but it would be unbearable here without it. It is over 100 daily for 3 months solid, some days getting up to 115. We keep it at 81 degrees in our house all summer, and our electric bill is still nearly $500 a month. Without AC our house would be over 110 degrees.

    • @kksigurn

      Same here. We're in the Bay Area. We use both maybe a week out of the whole year. When I lived in south Florida, heaters were unheard of lol but AC...you can't even own a car without proper AC. The summers would run our power bill for $300-$400. It was dreaded

    There are cheaper ways to heat and cool a house. For instance space heaters can be a good option or you can look up a lot of ways to cool a home. One of them involves a plastic container, a fan and ice and it's supposed to lower the room by a few degrees. I have a window fan because we don't have AC either and as long as it's below 85 degrees outside it works really well!

    I've seen some comments about getting someone to babysit drake, I'm a student myself.. if you lived by a college you could maybe look into students wanting to make a little extra money, it would be alot cheaper than daycare I recon. Maybe someone doing healthcare or teaching would be nice.
    Also have you thought about doing public speaking I think you have alot of tips for single mum's or maybe about health or money you could share, maybe contact a college about that! It might generate some extra cash :)!
    I think your doing a great job, we keep our heating off alot as students and just wear extra clothes haha I know how you feel :)!

    I raised my son alone after 2 year marriage and worked 3 jobs and it was so hard.We did things like cheap matinee movies and the library and swap meets and the Tustin Acres 2 pools and the beach.. When my son turned 18 he went into the Marines and I met my husband and married for 38 years he just passed away. My son helped me take care of husband these last 2 years.and after his divorce moved in with us and he retired .When I was raising him we lived on $200.00 a month to start. Now I get my husbands full police officer retirement and my retirement and Social security for an income over $7000.00 a month.. and I put money in my savings every month and we live at the top of the mountains and can afford comfort..I think you are doing wonderful and I am proud of you. The only thing is missing my husband for I loved him so much.

    I am a single mama too and I agree with you. The times me and the kids make popcorn at home and watch movies on Netflix and act silly are the times they remember not the times I spend a lot of money. I am lucky enough to have my kids in K-12 virtual academy so they are home with me but still in a "school" per say. That might be something you look into for later. Although they need to be a little older for that, third grade I think. Its totally free. Good luck with everything.

    Personally I don't think that 60○ is all that cold. We always wear sweats in the house in winter. And all these people saying that they have their heat on 70 even in summer is crazy. Average uk maximum temp is less than that and my heating doesn't come on at all between april and september. I am however very thankful for the NHS. Not having to pay for health insurance and all that junk is wonderful.

    Lol, why do you think we have pets? To keep us warm at night! :-) Oh and because they're cute and snuggly and we love them. I bought my husband an electric throw recently, and he is HUGELY pleased with it.

    The single mom million dollar question... how do you get ahead/get by when you have no extra income? I have gotten myself so strapped and working out of this hole has been so hard, do you have any advice? I think you mentioned before something about selling things on ebay. Getting a 2nd job wouldn't help because what I would pay in daycare is as much as I would make. Thanks so much!!! I love your videos!!!!!! I look forward to them!!!!

    We don't have cable as well. I feel the cable is not worth having. Now days there is to much nasty stuff on there anyways. I would much rather my family not even be subjected to it. We have Netflix and that work just fine for us, oh yeah and youtube. lol. Also I just wanted to say that your awesome. Keep up the good work. I love your videos. I think that it's wonderful that you don't even acknowledge the people with their nasty comments. So not worth it. :)

    You know you could spend way less on groceries and not just serve roman noodles..:) I think its great that you have the money to buy organic, I just think most cant afford to do it..My budget is 500.00 a month and I get so much more food and variety but I don't buy organic unless it happens to be on sale for the same price as what I would normally would buy..great video..:)

    My husband is also grandfathered into the unlimited data!

    • @marlynmr19
      @marlynmr19 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you upgrade to the new phone you lose the unlimited data. That's what I was told. So my husband and I are going on three years with our iPhone 4 but when our taxes come in we have to upgrade our phones bc they are not holding a charge.

    • @TheBrittbrat2341
      @TheBrittbrat2341 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      What that's crazy, my husband has upgraded three times since we first got our iPhones back in 2009. He's still got his unlimited data, and currently has the 5c. Maybe it depends on where you go, we live on an Army post so that's where we go to get new phones. We just trade in our old ones and get the "new" ones for free. Although when we got the 5c they already had out the 5s, so the 5c was only $99.

      @Sandyyyyyyyyyy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on your contract you can buy a new phone outright and keep the unlimited data. You just can't go into a new contract with unlimited anymore. My husband and I share 15 gigs and it work really well

    • @Wats1982
      @Wats1982 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im so annoyed! with my upgraded phone they talked me into lowering my data to save money so I did but the lower data wasn't enough so I have had to add extra and now pay the same I did originally - I was on unlimited but the price for that now is ridiculous, I could kick myself!

    Just wanted to ask you if you use coupons!? I am and I can not imagine not using them and Im not one of those haorders, no, just buy sale items with coupons when you have a chance and what you need. It can save you 100's of $ on cleaning supplies, detergents, soap and shampoo...even food, snacks, etc. If you're interested I can help you with it.
    Also, do you use credit cards or just live strictly on cash?
    Best Regards :)

      It's hard to find a job for 2 or 3 hours and if you did it would probably pay less then what you would pay the babysitter!! Keep doing what ur doing and keep ur positive attitude and things will always work out.

    Add you probably don't want to answer this, but if you are willing, how much money do you actually make making youtube videos? Is it worth the mean comments?

    • @Dinoman-Roblox
      @Dinoman-Roblox 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      @staylormade27 As far as I know, the youtubers who get money for their videos aren't allowed to talk about it.
      But a few weeks ago, a newspaper said, that they receive 0,004 Euro per click. So this would be approx. 0,005 $ per click.
