    Hello,
    I have used this video for my paper in the Management Principals class. I was writing about the importance of diversity and usage of different skill sets in the decision-making process. Thank you for creating this video, I think it is very relevant in today's world and is filled with excellent info. Thank you!

    Ideally, I will be making a new video over the summer. But most likely it'll be related to the application of service design to the creation of media content, as that's my current field of research.

    The reason I love this type of learning is because it's said that our minds process speech many times faster than the speed at which most professors speak when teaching. Therefore, it's easier for students to lose their attention span. But this is fast and attention grabbing, yet we can still pause and puzzle over concepts if the need be =) Not to mention how it targets both the visual and auditory learning styles, making the learning process that much easier.

    It does not need to be slower - you can double speed a 'normal' delivery and still understand it. So, more information taken in in less time - more 'bang-for-your-buck'. This is a really good video learning package.

    Hi @TheAlexscarfo,
    Thanks very much for your feedback. I really appreciate.
    I did all by myself and to be honest struggled a bit with the technical bits of the video/audio editing. But I think if you get an animator to do it you should get a better quality.
    In terms of advice I am not sure how I can help, but I can tell you about my process.
    The challenging bits are the structure of the content and its visualisation.

    Hi @stupify8 , thanks very much for ur comment.
    the future of learning (teaching) is one of the hot topics in service design communities at the moment.
    I also think that audio-visual (and interactive if possible) make learning much easier.
    One of my main arguments these days regards the benefits of this approach to academic research. As academic papers are in general boring &incomprehensible for anyone out of the specific field.
    BTW, if you haven't, take a look at RSAnimate great videos :)

    I used mindmaps to decided what ideas I wanted to get across, and loads of post-it notes till I got to a sensible structure. Then the scripting and storyboards, looking for images that metaphorically represented the words. If possible get an Italian person to do that, as cultural difference influence our interpretation of images.

    As far as I know there is no just one book that covers it all. This is Masters' research so it is a mash up of literature review, observation and experimentation. My writing skills were quite poor at that time, so the dissertation itself might not quite make it as a reference, a short paper is on its way though.

      Hi Piyush, thank you for the feedback. Do you have any suggestions on how could I do that in an easy way?
      I know it has both poor image and sound quality. I made the video a decade ago, as part of my Masters' coursework, and with very poor equipment. Now everyone has a smartphone, but it wasn't the case back then.
      Re-recording dos not seem like the most cost-effective use of my time. I am not really a TH-camr that gets advertising money. I just keep it there because it is being used by several universities as part of their curriculum. But if there was something 'easy' I could do to improve the quality, I could probably find the time to do it.

    This video is referenced in my engineering design class. It's a shame to see that there are hardly any women pictured. In one of very few cases (four or less?) the woman is looking at her reflection in a mirror. This in contrast to the man holding up the world, the male chemist or the male software engineer. As a female engineering student and professional, -well, just as a woman in general, I wish these themes weren't so easily accepted. If the genders were reversed, this would be seen as some kind of feminist advocacy, but in this case it's just considered 'normal'.

    • @TheArtmadillo
      @TheArtmadillo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, Jessica, thanks so much for your comment. You are absolutely right!
      It is interesting to see how unequal and stereotyped representations of gender in media become so ingrained in our imagination. But it is also fantastic how our social awareness of gender inequality has grown in the past decade. While I did not make those choices consciously, there I was, nine years ago, replicating the very same stereotypes that inhibited my growth as a professional. Even though I am myself a woman with an engineering undergrad, and actively engage in feminism, I had never thought about it. So yeah, just thanks for your reflections and for bringing up the conversation.

    • @jessiseibel5635
      @jessiseibel5635 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheArtmadillo Thanks for the thoughtful reply! I'm sure I too unconsciously perpetuate these themes. I'm glad I can point to examples of these imbalances and be met with thoughtful and open-minded responses; to your point, our social awareness on the subject is growing. :)

    speak slower, and more clearly. It's a powerful video and concept, but when pronunciation of words in the English language is poor, the main idea is lost. Or just use subtitles.

    • @juliep664
      @juliep664 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed. I second that. Even though speaking more slowly might make the video longer, it's well worth the increased ability to understand what is being said. You could even split the video into a Part 1 video and Part 2 video if after you record yourself saying the same words and sentences in a slower way, it turns out to be twice as long as this video that is on youtube right now.
