People need to be watching this video. I understand Hugo's decision, he's judging from a Popping dance point of view. Ness was more traditional and kept the feel of Popping alive in his rounds. But as an ARTISTIC side of dance, and on a STRAIGHT WAVING BATTLE...its a shame Bishop didn't win. He's doing so much new movement on a high level, and creating within the style like an OG did. He's the guy that other wavers watch these days! So it's a shame he didn't win. You're telling the kids watching this battle and being inspired to train that it's better to stay in a box within a style. Popping isn't required in Waving. Popping limits the waving...it can enhance it for moments. But any true waver knows...you don't need Popping to make it look good. That was Taco and Hugo's approach. So you can;t hate on Hugo's decision. Peace.
bishop takes waving to a whole new level. whenever i see any of his sets, i feel like im instinctively trying to pick things out and learn from him....ness is sick and all but its pretty obvious theres a huge difference in terms of pure waving skill.
The only thing I regret is that on this video I cannot see the micro subtle arms wave in my first run, when I stopped. Because the camera is shaking at this moment!

I still cannot agree with his decision and it just kills something inside me as I watch this competition. It just makes me think that his view of the dance of popping is so limited despite his extensive experience in the dance scene. I hope Hugo never gets to judge competitions in popping outside his "understanding" & "preference" again, as this will only limit the development of the dance for the next generation. I am not a great popper myself but I will be sure to avoid all competitions that he judges as I cannot agree with his methods & criteria.
I agree, I think that to judge anything, you have to let go of your own preferences and be objective. You judge based on what you know and your experience, that's fine. But to mix into that voluntarily your own personal preferences, I'm not down with that. It basically means that Bishop had no chance from the start.
FOR REAL THO. WAVING LIKE THIS IS LIFE, YAAY! :D You can pull out really crazy amazing moves in waving, it's UN-LIMITED to the top only for the realz. :D
