One thing I tried was to coat the golden pheasant tippet with Solarez flex uv to keep the fibers together! That worked great. Just a suggestion. Love the pattern.

Thanks so much! Glad you liked it. I was fishing it last week and it looks amazing in the water!

I just tried this one tonight. I found that my hook wasn't long enough and I had trouble with the "thirds" concept because I felt like I was running up against the eye of the hook too quickly. As a result, I couldn't add the final hackle. My version came out a little short but it still looks pretty good. Will they hit this in totally fresh water?

Brian Lear the thirds takes a bit of practice to get dialled in. You can do it in 2 stages instead of 3 as well if it helps to get a better profile. Fish will hit this in clear water for sure. It’s a fantastic pattern

@@FridayNightFlies so why use something like this as opposed to a plain old yarnie? Sorry if thats a dumb question :)

If you don't mind wasting that much material on feathers, it would be a great fly, only thing I could say I'd do different, but awesome looking sir none the less!!

What does that even mean. Sometimes you only need one side of the feather. You dress a fly so it looks and fishes appropriately.
