Kropek is a food that your father enjoys. It is like chicharon but is made of prawn or shrimp flavoring with water, flour, seasonings, and spices rather than pork rind.

Street food home-made versions of kropek used to be common in the Visayas and Mindanao.

As for the snack, it's called kropek. But usually it's orange in color. You can purchase that in Chowking and they call it chicharap there. There's also a snack that looks like that and it's called fishda. Don't know if it tastes the same.
