Killogic, what you said was a ‘light bulb moment’ for me. I’m seniorish lol, so haven’t listened to much Rap at all as I couldn’t understand the lyrics. Changing the style of delivery of the lyrics was like it was translated from a foreign language into English. I finally understood what Eminem had written brilliantly when Kasey sang it in a totally different style of music.
Yes, He is a great lyricist but if you arent a rap fan you cant really appreciate it as much, her version really puts the heart an soul behind the words that really makes it hit so much harder....

Totally agree. It makes you appreciate just how good the lyrics are.
Kasey really loved this song she sang the first two verses slower as they were in the third person, the third verse is in first person hence the voice.
Yeah she really puts a lot of heart into it without a doubt! She really gives the song another life to be appreciated under a whole knew light!

She aint no little girl, Kasey is in the Australian Hall of Fame with decades of great songs. If you liked this you will love I Aint No Little Girl.
Definitely listen to a live version of this - Live at Bluegrass Underground or the 'Luck Sessions' in Willie Nelsons studios.

Kasey sings her frkking heart out - so much emotion - the lyrics have a completely different meaning! Let's not forget the band - WOW - (her dad is on the slide guitar...)
I am one of those people you talked about, grew up in the 70's, never had time for rap crap. But after hearing Kasey's rendition of this, I looked up the lyrics and, like you said, read it as a poem.
Gave me a greater appreciation of Em.
I have loved Kasey Chamber's work almost 20 years now....saw her in Midtown Atlanta at the Variety Playhouse...BEST concert I ever saw...just saying...check out her past music...baby girl doesn't play...she SLAYS!!!!

I have wached a lot of reacts to this version of the song, firstly the vision in the clip came from a request to fans at the show to send in recordings on there phones, to make the song avaliable for all to witness. your reaction is spot on , Kasey is a big fan of Eminem , and through Covid she made it her aim to give this a new spin with her musical talent,
Great reaction. This is a really intelligent reinterpretation of those great lyrics. She follows all the instructions. She stops when it says "Time's up," and the mood all changes when it says the mood all changes. Very brave to even attempt this. I mean, she's a Country & Western singer. But great lyrics are great lyrics. Amazing performance. (And when the band drops in all Pink Floydish they are at the same emotional intensity as Kasey - they've followed her all the way - which is very impressive.) The comparison I make about this is Patti Smith's cover of Nirvana's Teen Spirit - which also starts with a banjo. (Kasey shreds that banjo btw! Respect.)

I recommend you listen to her "Not Pretty Enough" that she did around the same time as Lose Yourself..it was her first mainstream hit but she wrote it because her music wasnt getting airplay....this one did. So she well and truly understood Ems message in Lose Yourself.

Check out Kasey's life & career, Em may have easily wrote this for her. She's been chewed up, spit out by the music industry (hence her song "Not Pretty Enough").

You're right. I wouldn't have listened to this without having being introduced to numerous genres with reactors over the pandemic years. This it storytelling in 3 acts. Kasey solo & with the guitarist (I live that tone & harmonies ) and then with the band. Wow and didn't they give 110%.The lyrics are bloody awesome. So I went back to listen to Eminem's original. Kasey shows such talent, control and emotion in this. And then you've got the arrangement which is amazing. Great reaction mate

Kasey's got a dozen albums under her belt and is one of Australia's top Country Artists. Her specialty is to tear your heart out and that's because she first does it to her own heart and leaves it on the stage for everyone to see.
If you want to here her in her normal wheelhouse, I'd suggest 'Aint no Little Girl'. Probably the live recording from Bluegrass Underground is the best on TH-cam.
There's 'Not pretty Enough', covering the disappointment and frustration of the industry or even 'Kasey Chambers - Nullarbor Song (Live)' if you want to feel homesick.

Have many favourites of Kasey. Nullarbor Song is one of many. She slayed this song. I actually love this version of Loose Yourself more as has the emotion behind it. No same four chords throughout, no same upbeat melody. She gave this song a whole new meaning.❤

I understand that you would rather hear a new artist sing songs in their own element, but even though this a cover, this is Kasey's element. Rapp and Hip Hop aren't as big here in Australia as the US. Pop, Rock and Country are more prominent here. Taylor Swift has also done a good version of this song, but suited to her audience. So Kasey performed this to suit her audience. I've probably heard Em's version half a dozen times ever, I couldn't count how many times I've listened to Kasey.

Ok liked and subscribed, how could I not. I have been watching Kasey reactions for a while now and was also drawn to check her originals. Try "Ain't No Little Girl" live if you can find a version. BTW an artist you may wish to check out is Angelina Jordan who has just dropped a new EP all original songs. She has a voice and style that may change industry perceptions on how a female singer should look and sound. Also crazy to say she is a seventeen year old with more than 10 years experience.

I am not a fan of rap or Eminem( i can't stand the sound of his voice) I watch this the first time because I'm a fan of Kasey Chambers.she is and Australian country singer who has won about every award a musician can win in Australian. many people have heard her before as she has had minor hit's in the U.S.A.and her music has been used in television show's.
