Once you’re up to that tier it better be “one of the best!” Tired of brands just slapping 5K and calling it boutique when it doesn’t have the pedigree. That front pickup sounds beautiful.
Rhett, your playing is a perfect mix of two of my favorite genres. Like a funky blues. It takes a special player to make any guitar special. Your left hand seems like it's light as a feather. With you on it, that guitar sounded saweet !! PEACE from Philadelphia
@@seanzingerGretch is not stated on my end. You probably know more about Gretch models than I do, because that's all I see. Thanks for pointing that out.
Same. I'm a simple man. I see a Gretsch, I click. Then I realized it wasn't a Gretsch. It's definitely Gretsch inspired though. Edit: FYI, In the full length video, he says it was inspired by JL's duo-jet, so I guess that makes it official.
Great sound great playing. Really sweet guitar. So why aren't more makers creating that. Thanks for your videos. At least here get to hear live blues interesting playing
Dream guitar, kind of guitar a could trade in everything exept my road worn paysley with B-bender and my cooder caster, but anything else on the wall with a bit off sadness❤
I had no intentions of buying a guitar at Dave’s Guitars in La Crosse Wisconsin. I left with a Collings 290 DC-S. I just couldn’t leave it behind. Craftsmanship is second to none.
Great sound and playing Rhett, my comment is not about this video. But rather on the one you made about the younger generation not leaning towards Gibson LPS because it might be for the older generation??? Of course any1 my age was influenced by Jimmy Page and his LP Standard. I'm just a very novice guitarist @ best but have recently purchased The Gibson LP Studio Plus and loved it so much that I followed that up with buying the EPIPHONE Smokehouse burst 60s LP. They both have their own unique personality and tone. The warmth and depth of both of them just lends itself to great music and tone and quite frankly the sustain on the EPIPHONE is off the chart. I wouldn't know wth Indie music is if it hit me in the face. But I wholeheartedly agree with you about the Marketing and demographic targeting younger people by Fender. And who can argue with the versatility of a Strat as your 1st guitar. Keep up the informative and instructional videos.
I’ve played one before. They are good for sure, but not necessarily 7-8k good. I mean you can get a vintage 50s duo jet for that. I think Julian plays his teles more anyway
Just a piece of wood. I’d play a $150 special if I had your skills. You have great guitars anyway, we’ve all seen them. Put it out of your mind. There comes a point where the difference between what you don’t have and what you do isn’t worth the money.
@drewciferf5832 - Perhaps, but it's so damn fun. If I had this man's skills ? He's played probably a thousand guitars and he probably has the nicest guitar he has ever played on his lap ?? Yeah, she's coming home with me. The mortgage can wait a month.

Thought it was a Gretsch Duo Jet at first glance. Sounds amazing. So much clarity.
Looks like Gretch at the tail piece. Interesting that the make was not shared.
@@terryt2910 It says on the top of the video

@@terryt2910 I mean it says Collings 470 JL on the top. Not Gretsch

Julian Lage is dope. I did a transcription of Persian Rug and performed it for school.
I hope to also have a Julian Assange signature guitar someday
I've wanted a Collings for years, but have yet to find a justification for paying that much.
And only $7600!
I'll take two!

That’s what I want for my 50th birthday. A Collings 470 JL.
I have played 2 Collings guitars in my life. Nothing has ever come close.

Thank you for making the settings clean and clear rather than distorted. The distortion hides so much ... pat
Collings makes some amazing guitars.
I was bummed to have to sell my 290 to make rent a few months ago.
Love the type d pickupd
Great tone
Oh. That’s Julian Lages signature guitar that he never plays…🤭
ellisonic ❤
I try to avoid Maple Street when I"m in Atlanta. I'm far too likely to spend myself into a HUGE marital row if I go in there :D :D :D
What amp were you playing it through?
i want one

You can get a new duojet for less and it'll sound similar out of the same amp.
Yeah its a Collings . kinda goes without saying . price check that bad boy tho
no words
My balls dropped when I saw the price
Stripped down Black Penguin look. Jeff Beck, George Harrison capable ?
The people watching 90% cant afford it
Glistening
:)
