midi controllers are getting ever more tactile. I like the orba,. It looks fun. Of course you can always go draw in some expressive automation in a midi lane, if you don't have access to various controllers, but having something hands-on is great. It's kinda how I feel about DJ'ing with vinyl vs a DJ control surface - as an old skool DJ! 😆
Absolutely. There's something really nice about the hands on approach. Something that a mouse on a flat surface doesn't really live up to. Vinyl is a beautiful artform. There's something really really humbling about vinyl as an authentic medium. Glad you're staying true to you and what you love!
MPE is the expression game changer midi has been lacking for too long, aftertouch can only do so much and is rarely even per note expression on hardware. Orba looks like an awesome interface that anyone can fit into their workspace or setup despite space limits, cheers.
That was coooool. I'm pretty excited to eventually get the Push 3 (or some other MPE controller like the Osmose) to combine MPE and some of what I've learned from my jazz/classical composition and experience performing. The MPE stuff is great because it really expands the scope of what is expressively available for synthesizers as a performance instrument. I can only imagine right now, but I really look forward to experimenting with it.
Been using live 12 since the beta arrived, it's ok, much better with a few selected max devices. I always kind of wanted an Orba, love the look of the mkii, but it's a hard pass on anything Baby Audio I'm afraid .

"draw something expressive" - 'tis a case of: but is it art?
What an inspiring combo! MPE is so exciting to me. Adding that human element makes things come alive instantly. The difference is night and day.
Yeah I absolutely agree. Thanks for commenting!
