Bought a 2010 Addict R1 frame last year $300NZD. New paint job, dura ace 11 speed, carbon hoops. Freakin love it! Easy to work on and rides like a thunder bolt.
Still have my 2014 Team Issue, Green on Black. Still weighs 6kg, still has rim brakes/DA9000, still climbs the shit out of hills (despite the engine still a bit weezy), and still serves me perfect. Would love a new Addict (or maybe an Izalco), but at $15K or whatever, why the f would I??
I had that bike and it was a dream to ride, really was. I had sram force, red mavic kysrium wheels...super light. In fact one day in Ireland in the wicklow mountains I nearly lost it by the wind nearly taking me out. Took it to Brasil and did some races 12 years ago, fittest I ever been in my life.
People don’t realise how tough carbon is. I’ve cut down several steerers to length and it’s a serious work out with a hacksaw. You need to use a fine tooth blade to avoid shredding the fibres and achieve a clean cut.
I picked up an acid yellow/black 2016 Addict 10 full Dura-Ace 9000 with Mavic Cosmic Carbone 40 wheels for £1,300 last year. Was that a shade too much? Possibly, but I don't care. It rides like a dream. Pity that the lovely Dan Dare 1950 Space Age-style chain ring had to get swallowed up by the subsequent Shimano recall, but hey, I had an Ultegra one fail at speed and didn't fancy a repeat. So I've got a Darth Vader black chain ring replacement, the only shadow falling across what is a sensational machine. Do I prefer it to my 2018 Emonda SLR6 or my 2014 Felt F4? I'm not sure, but I do love it.
I'm still trashing my 2008 Scott addict R2, must be up to 300000km by now, clear coat is breaking off, had to re glass a broken chain stay as the gravel riding wore right through the carbon and it kinda snapped, got hair line cracks on the front fork dropouts but at 57 years old and 57kg I can still manage the odd KOM all with a tail wind of course, should get another 10 years I reckon, Rock on The Warriors and Team NZ I say 😛😛 bro!!
Durianrider, I have a CAAD 12 I've been running for years and still using the stock Mavic wheelset. I think I would prefer to upgrading my wheelset rather than buy a new bike, but I am overwhelmed by all the choices. Do you have any advice or direction for what to buy?
Hey Harley, my 2012 sram red rear derailur makes noise but I assume its how it should be? Where the gears are it sounds like a quiet old train type sound.
I live in an affluent...call it a retirement town on the west coat of Florida. A lot of rich people here. Most are on carbon franes...or Ti...almost all ride deep section carbon wheels and electric groupsets. To me, there will always be those that try to 'buy game'. Yes, many Americans feeling the pinch of inflation...all of us, but there is a subset with millions that can afford a $10-15K bike. Btw, I could afford one also but chose not to and ride a bike with rim brakes and carbon frame similar to the Scott in this video because I don't drink the new bike koolaid as a mechanical engineer.
@@princeedmunddukeofedinburg Electronic groupsets are planned to be obsolete. Designed to fail at some point in time. With the goal to ensure you'll buy the next, insanely overpriced electronic group.... rinse and repeat.
Too many on the road....I ride a 2012 Specialized Roubaix SL3 which Cancellara won the Paris Roubaix on...routine inspection like any other bike. My buddy rides a real old TCR with 100K miles on it. Carbon fiber doesn't degrade any more than other materials.
Built several bikes, the best bikes to ride are always the cheapest since they have the lowest end parts all exposed cable housing no electronic shifting nonsense. My most expensive builds get less usage go figure, time is money so less is better. I even switched to aliexpress Raceworks pedals since they are easier to service than Shimano's.
But deep carbon wheels are faster. I pass a lot of people up the hills, many catch me back as soon as the street flattens out 😞. I am average weight, so weight advantage on the hills may only partially explain
@@durianriders thanks for a pro tip man. I bought one thanks to your recommendation two years ago to my road bike and I am still riding. Very loght, very cheap. Carbon steam killer!

I still ride this bike daily. My race bike is the 2011 Scott addict (pretty much same frame, with a different paint job). Epic bikes.

That is a 2009. We sold these out of the first bike shop I worked for at the time.
Put some Ridenow TPU thermoplastic tubes save a hundred grams off that for $14.
He's running singles mate, can't change tubes.
Why not do better & go latex & carry TPU

Harley, do you sell for a 171cm rider? I'd love a weight weenie bike as I love climbing! How do I get in contact?
isnt this version from 2008? Looks amazing!
The bike was made before the invention of trainers = was I correct ?
Nobody is paying these overpriced Prices anymore. The Bike Industry will soon be facing complete Bankruptcy.

Any thoughts on Scott cr1 elite!
Do biceps for more vascularity straight before recording. My dad does pecs shoulders before recording, looks like puffed up buzz lightyear

Nah the bunch is swapping off and you are not pushing enough watts. Strong on the climbs = strong on the flats. Look at Jonas and Pog.
@@durianriders Thanks for the encouragement! I need to keep at bay the temptation to drop 5K for new wheels
Havent seen this bloke pop up for over 5 years. Csnt believe he not either in jail or blown a head gasket from the gear
Is your high carb/sugar diet good for women with pcos?
No because healthy habits are only good when we are healthy. If you are sick you need to keep doing sickening habits.
Where you getting lightweight wheels for 500$
From barristers who ‘upgraded’ to disc 😆 IYKYK
I mean u have a lightweight melistine on the front tho, probably like 6.5 ish 🤷 pretty dam light
Is Uno Kalloy apropriate for MTB?
Not for jumping off shipping containers no.

That stem is making me gag.
And that’s why I get these ultra fast bikes so cheap 😆😆
Same gaggers then go buy a 9kg S5 disc with its fixed flipped stem for how much?? 😆😆😆❤️💰💰

I'd argue that this kind of weight scale is not so accurate but okay......
Very accurate scale if handle kept horizontal. I’ve checked it against other weights.
