I checked my blog, and I was in that campground in late September, 2011, on one of my several Oregon coast trips. Thanks for bringing back good memories of that beautiful area!
9:09 I remember in the late 90's running out to this spot with my mercury cougar and my chick and hanging out there all night as we were both night shift workers. I could get my cougar up and over a couple of those dunes on the trail if i got a run at it. I see they blocked it now. Sad.
Interesting question. The options for crossing the bridge by bike would be either in the traffic lane with cars or on the sidewalk. The bridge sidewalk is 40" wide, so definitely an option. There are signs that indicate that cyclists should walk their bikes on the bridge. Walking the sidewalk would be a slow trip as the bridge is more than 3000 feet long. Highway 101 carries a lot of traffic most of the day so traveling in the car lane would be intimidating for many cyclists. If traveling north to the Yaquina lighthouse, the bridge is uphill, so the biker would be traveling slower and it would probably be something of an issue to the cars behind the cyclist.
Please pronounce the landmarks names correctly it shows how much you need to learn about the surroundings or it'll drive the locals crazy. Old Gov. saying "Come visit but don't stay" 😎
