    Dittos on using a light meter, even with the new systems. At the very least, one can set the exposure variables manually and have passable results. Occasionally I get grumpy with all the tech options and just go to full manual. Good tips, thx!

    Hi Rob, these videos are brilliant. OM systems should employ you

    I go back to my film experiences when using flash on my Olympus and Fuji mirrorless cameras. I set my iso manually and my shutter speed to 160 or 250 depending on which camera I’m using. Then I adjust my flash output to properly expose the scene. I don’t like using auto exposure for flash.

      Thanks for sharing, Vincent. That is how I normally shoot with flash too. The only exception is when I did and event and just used TTL as I was moving around a lot.

    Hello, thank you for this video. For a more precise measurement, do you regularly use a light meter as part of your work, and if so, would you have one to offer more specifically?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I don't use a light meter. It has it uses but I try to keep it simple when I go out.

    Very informational; going straight to "Save." Thanks, Rob. (And audio speed sounded Goldilocksian just right!)

      Thanks! I didn't do any speed ramping this time.

    live view does not allow extreme over-exposure and extreme under-exposure, because contrast-detect system can't work there. and contrast-detect is used on both cameras with and without phase-detect (hybrid autofocus).

      That makes sense. Thanks.

    HELLO ROB! I bought an Olympus E-3000 bundle back in 2005 for $600.00! Originally and had teemed them up with a couple of Vivitar off camera Flashes using the Nikon hot shoe to sync cable converter!
    But the annoying problem I always have is those 4 AA battery Flashes eat power like crazy and eventually they always burn out!
    Have recently taken the E-500 out of storage and equipping them with different Flash units now! Vivatar SF-3000, SunPak Digital Flash, both use only 2 AA Batteries and actually have Sync cable jacks! Am also considering getting a couple of Olmypus FL-LM1 Flashes!
    What are your thoughts?

      The only challenge with the FL-LM1 is it eats the camera battery. Probably the best way to use it is to fire the off camera flashes. Just set it manual and 1/64th power to minimize battery consumption.

    Rob, an explanation of the A2 settings on the EM 1iii would be much appreciated. Thanks for all you do to help the Olympus community.

      Hi, Larry. I started working on it yesterday. I don't have the E-M1.3 anymore, so will use a combination of my OM-1 and I borrowed and E-M1x which is very similar but not exactly the same. Look for it later this afternoon. Also, thank you so much for your donations! -Rob

    Just want to put it out there, I want to see OM systems introduced all new OM-2 with 28 megapixels a resolution by early next year. I would like to hear what other micro 43 users want to see in the next professional OM system camera
    I think it's important for us to let OM systems know what we want to see in the next camera,
    What is your wish list for the next professional OM system camera.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think 33mp would be the next step for 8k video potential.

    • @anthony-qm3pn
      @anthony-qm3pn ปีที่แล้ว

      What is the minimum amount of megapixels for 8k video.
      I would be happy with 6K capability, 90% of the time I'm using my camera for still photography
      I do very little videography but I am doing more all the time.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anthony-qm3pn I think 33mp is required. Personally, I'm happy with 1080p video and 20mp photos. I'm just thinking in terms of being competitive with full frame flagships which offer 8k now. I like the Panasonic g6 but just don't need all that video capability and it's a huge camera, relatively speaking. I'd like to see a firmware update to give us 4k 120p in the OM-1. The sensor is capable of it.

    Rule of thumbs: No auto iso in flash photography.
