Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park is a safari park in Gazipur, Bangladesh. This safari park is spread over 3690 acres of Sal Forest which makes it one of the largest safari parks in the world and the largest in Asia. It was inaugurated on October 31, 2013. It is located about 40 km north of Bangladesh's capital city Dhaka near the Dhaka - Mymensingh Highway. Safari park is closed every Tuesday.
How to be here:
Get up from Mohakhali or Gulisthan in Bhaluka, Mymensingh or Sripur bus. At Gazipur’s tiger market, Bhager Bazar you will have to go down. Depending on the jam, it will take 2 hours. Then you will catch a rickshaw or CNG auto rickshaw to go to the park. It takes only 20 minutes. You can also go by your own vehicle. Just set this park in Google map of your mobile and it will guide you to reach this park.
Attractions:
Gazipur Safari Park is divided into five parts - Core Safari, Safari Kingdom, Biodiversity Park, Extensive Asian Safari Park and Bangabandhu Square.
Core Safari: No tourists can enter here except park's vehicle. After buying Tour bus ticket, tourist can watch wild animals movement in the forest from air conditioner bus. The core safari park includes - Royel Bengal tiger, white lion, black bear, African leopard, different deer species, Zebra, giraffe, monkey, Wilde Beast African cow, Gayal cow and different birds. It is about area of 1335 acres. Core Safari park tour through bus takes 15-20 minutes.
Safari Kingdom: In safari kingdom tourists can walk on foot and animals are kept in small barricade. Main objectives to display the sports and quality of animals to the tourists for recreation, education and for research. It is about 575 acres of area. The main attraction of Safari kingdom are the following are Nature History museum, marine aquarium , Fancy Carp garden, Butterfly Garden, Macaw Land, Parrot aviary, Crocodile park, Lizard Park, Hornbill aviary, Emu Garden, Ostrich Garden, Hanging Bridge, Peacock par, Small Birds, Vulture house, Food court, Fancy duck garden, pelican Island, Watch Tower, boat journey, elephant ride,9D movie theater, children park
Biodiversity Park: The main objective of establishment of this park is to conserve gene pool of rare, endangered and critically endangered plant species. On the other hand different type of plant will be planted to conserve the Shalbon and the biodiversity. It will be established as a replica of National Botanical Garden and Boldha Garden. The area of Biodiversity Park is 965 acres.
Famous Food: Gazipur Safari Park has two huge size observation restaurants, one named Tiger Restaurant and the Lion Watching Restaurant. In these two restaurants, you can watch movement of lions and tigers through glass.
