    Great tips! TBH I usually use GIMP for vignetting because I can pick the colour to use in the vignette (typically a colour close to the edge of the image) but I'll definitely will have to try tone curves. Thanks!

      Thank you very much. If you want to pick the color for the vignette, there are some options in darktable. Perhaps the easiest is to use the exact same technique in the video, but with the colorize module. Create an inverted elliptical mask and then just choose your color and saturation, and decrease the brightness.
      (The color balance RGB module is another option that also gives you some tonal control over the shadows and highlights. Or the RGB curve too...but colorize may be the easiest.)

      Yeah, I think I actually discovered it by accident! The tooltips constantly popping up were an annoyance for me. I don't like random tooltips at all and disable them whenever possible.
