DT is D Town and refers to my hometown. I like the meaning and it sounds cool when I say it, so I think I’ll continue using this name when I work externally. I also like how the mixtape came out in August.” “[The mixtape] has everything I wanted to do with hip-hop as the foundation. There are strong lyrics that will make people say ‘Huh? He did this?’ and ‘Is it okay for him to write such lyrics?’ Anyway, I feel relieved since I was able to tell my stories.” As for his dreams, Suga stated that he has grand ambitions to shift the media's spotlight on issues that really matter rather than unimportant things like stardom: Taking on a more dreamy concept with Marie Claire, Suga was asked why he chose to release a mixtape under a different alias rather than a solo album under his own name. The rapper responded by saying that he wanted to express his honest thoughts without any censorship or restrictions on what he wanted to say: “I wanted to reveal my honest thoughts about youth. I wanted to express myself transparently with the purpose of doing everything I wanted to do.” Moving onto his influences, Suga revealed that he is a fan of Lupe Fiasco and that he listens to a lot of music from Desiigner, rapper YG, and a Korean team called XXX.
