I'm the professor in the video and I want to thank you for commenting and for watching the video. And I'd like to make a few points: First, this was the very first day of class and so instead of saying "Read the syllabus" and then dismissing the students, I decided to demonstrate how we're going to have open conversations about controversial topics. Second, these are students and it's a large auditorium filled with 750 people. It's easy to get nervous and any of us can say, "I would have said x or y" from the comfort of being in front of a computer monitor. However, in the moment, it's nerve-wracking and, as most of you have commented, the students did an excellent job. Third, the young woman in the video was not implying that she goes to the gun range, drinks, and then goes all Woo-Hoo with her gun. Clearly, she is very thoughtful. I've had experiences of sitting on a porch in a rural area and, while nursing a beer, plunking beer cans off a fence with a .22 or a pellet gun. Maybe I'm an idiot "for mixing alcohol and guns" but I'm sure I'm not the only idiot among us. And, finally, I think that I am teaching students to think critically. However, you can scroll through our TH-cam Channel and find videos/classes in which a much more liberal perspective is centered in the conversation. I'd like to ask you to watch some of those videos and write the same sort of comments in the chat because "critical thinking" happens when we address different issues from many directions and not just the direction we agree with.

ATF is recreation. BATF should be a convenience store; there's no constitutional authority for such a government entity to even exist! In fact, ALL gun laws are infringements one way or another and therefore unconstitutional, illegal, crimes against the supreme law of the land.

We are taught to live in a meritocracy, yet that's not the actual case in society today. Pandora's Pithos is a cosmetics case, fable on deception.
'Knowledge means responsibility, and no one wants that.'~ Stefan Molyneux
Honest people seek knowledge as a means of merit, the malicious seek knowledge as a means of exploitation.
Men, with merit, are expected to provide security, yet women have been proven, time and again, to be twice as malicious.
Malice is the legal standard for criminal prosecution, yet sophist attempt to conflate violence(overwhelming force) as malice.
Government agents (ie cops, judges, BAR members, even legislative bodies and bureaucrats) use overwhelming force on a daily basis. (Motivation of Arminius) And many of them are afraid of repercussions, hence red flag statutes.
The effeminate's weapon of choice is character assassination, overwhelming force by deceiving the courts (and the wana be white knights are more than happy to accommodate with their jurisdiction/legalized monopoly of violence).
We no longer live in a meritocracy, as perception has become nine tenths the 'law'.
Law ~ From the Latin for 'ultimate' or highest truth. Opinion nor consensus have anything to do with truth. ergo Laws of physics and mathematics.
Truth enforcement, really?? There ought to be a truth?? I'll call the truth??
Statutes are enforced in a court of record, where attorneys(to take from one and give to another) fabricate 'facts' according to a member of the BAR syndicate(which is defined w/ the word crime).
MODERN DAY FAMILY COURTS USE WITCH TRIAL(not found in law dictionaries) STANDARDS OF PERSECUTION, WHICH WERE DEEMED UNLAWFUL, BY THE CROWN, IN 1736. Witch trials were put on by the Crown's Roman Catholic church, as a means to entertain the witches, and protect the Crown's human trafficking syndicate(the most profitable means of commerce, even today). For chasing men of merit out of town.
Witch hunts were a culling of pedophiles, and other such degenerates, with STDs. A defense of procreation, as VD could wipe out an entire community, left unchecked.
PS Beware the Id's of March, as Hecate (goddess of PHARMAKIA and WITCHCRAFT) is observed on Aug/Nov 13th. Should Nov 13th fall on a Friday, it's a time of great power and celebration. Born of two Titans(blue hue skin), and guardian of crossroads, her practitioners place statues of her at major intersections, like NY HARBOR.

The main one is the fact the Constitution backs up her God-given "Right" to bear arms and protect herself and her family from a tyrannical Govt and other human/animal threats.
The Fascist Progressive Leftists always then say, "How can you battle against a military that has F-22s, Attack Helicopters, and Tanks???" I tell them, "The same way the Taliban did for 20 Friggin' years." Yes - the 2A is to protect the fundamental inherent right of all people to self defense - against criminals, beasts and also against an out of control government. That is why our Revolutionary War started at Lexington after all, the Crown was determined to enforce unjust polices the Colonies objected to strongly, and decided to confiscate the means of self-defense so the citizenry would have no choice but to comply.

Actually, it is in the Constitution that we *must* have them.
The Constitution grants to Congress the authority to provide for the training and supplying of the militia (when in service to the Federal government), and to stipulate when and how the government can call forth the militia.
The militia consists of the armed civilian population of the nation. Current US law defines the militia as consisting of the organized militia (i.e. the National Guard) and the unorganized militia (every able-bodied male between 17 and 45 years of age, except for certain elected officials). Members of the militia are required to provide their own arms, ammunition and campaign equipment sufficient for a few days of service in the field. In order to fulfill this Constitutional duty citizens have to be able to acquire military arms. This means machine guns, grenades and the like. No law which would prevent government from calling forth the militia, no law which would prohibit the citizen from obtaining military arms suitable for militia service can ever be valid as no mere law can prevent the citizen from exercising a Constitutional duty or prevent Congress and/or the President from exercising a Constitutional power.

One way I've always considered is a good explanation for owning a gun is that basically, not owning one is gambling. You are gambling on the chance that you will never be in a situation where you would need a firearm to protect yourself or your family. Now, for most people that's fine. The vast majority of people never find themselves in such a scenario. But, on the off chance that you do find yourself in such a scenario, the consequences of taking that chance or permanent and catastrophic. It is better to take precautions to avoid the consequences of something that may never happen than to take the risk.

The thing is, in Medieval times, only noblemen owned swords due to the expense of buying one. On the other hand, English ling Edward III passed a law in 1363 requiring that all males age 15-60 should practice archery on sundays and holidays. This law "forbade, on pain of death, all sport that took up time better spent on war training, especially archery practice".

Why do I have guns? Because I can.

My father is/was a Penn State Grad I believe class of 49 or 50 Arch. Eng. served in the pacific on the USS Columbia (3 kamikaze hits in one particular day) P.E. in 38 states. Anyway some distant affiliation there. Long story short he taught us responsibility and respect. As a young person, high school I moved to Idaho. Fished hunted both shotgun and long rifle. Had a much younger brother and on one particular occasion as my dad was visiting he wanted to show my father his big brothers 22 rifle. He went to my room, picked up the rifle removed the magazine, slid back the bold to ensure that is was "completely" unloaded and proceeded to show the rifle to my father. I was actually quite proud as he followed all the steps that I had taught him about gun safety which is a fundamental belief of the NRA. This professor uses CRITICAL THINKING in trying to elicit discussion with his class. The point that the young woman missed is that HER CCW permit and ability to carry might be the pivotal thing that might stand the gap between her or one of her friends or even a complete stranger from becomeing a victim of a serious crime. I challenge the students of that class to investigate the crime statics of College Station PA in 2950 and 2023 so see the difference in crime rates and the average time of a LEO response to same. I will also challenge iyo9u to define the difference between these two variants of a simple phrase. Thou shall not murder! Thou shall not kill! In any case one MUST REMEMBER the responsibility of power weather it is a LEO pr a civilian. YOU are responsible for your actions and if you pull a stun gun or a powder charged weapon you are responsible for that projectile. Both lead and electricity can kill!

No arguing, yelling, bad vibes - just friendly dialog and explanations from both sides. This is wholesome!

Six years ago I was laid off from my job and was unable to find a new one, so I returned to college one week before my 61st birthday. Of all the classes I took over the next three years, I had maybe 5 professors this good. And to his pinned comment, worse than "read the syllabus" and dismissing class, was reading the syllabus to us before dismissing class.

Great job professor!! Getting people to have a conversation!! I did notice quite a few in the audience roll their eyes and were sitting in a defensive and/or uncomfortable position when she spoke. Hopefully everyone in your class learned something

Yes!, that is something I mentioned indirectly in my comment . It is unrealistic to think that the instruction or teaching will reach everyone , although we wish it did. Can't win all the battles, but in Teaching if you only reach 1 individual its a Win ! Thank you for commenting. Peace ! ✌🏾 😊👍🏾

Imagine a country where the majority of college professors were like this guy. Yeah, I know…I know.

I fucking wish I had one like him... yet I went to the school which an English professor silenced a student for arguing about guns... look up Cypress College
