My dude PRINCE keeping it slick, grooving, and nasty! Eric Leeds was also a funky cat that always kept the solos and grooves in the pocket!
The rest of this band was also stellar! Sheila, Levi, Miko, Dr. Fink, Atlanta, etc. This was one of Prince's greatest bands ever!

Prince knew how to pick the right people. My favorite move he made was bringing Maceo Parker in. Once upon a time, James said Michael had a better grasp of the funk. I firmly believe he changed his mind before he left here.
He loved MJ since he was a kid. Mr Brown said he didn’t like Prince act as it was too much sex no no no…
Miles Davis on the other hand said he liked Prince better no doubt at all. Any musician wouldn’t have any doubts.
This is fascinating to me. I find it hard to believe that anyone, let alone James Brown himself, would have rated Prince’s funkiness as being perhaps not as good as MJ’s. But there you go. In my humble opinion Mr Brown was wrong 😊

I once went to a Prince concert at the Jones Beach Theater & Prince did a cover of JB’s vamp on his Live in Augusta, GA album. My date at the time thought it was a new song. I had to convince her that JB did this almost 30 years before; that’s how tuned into James Brown he was!!!👊🏾
