Car Canopy and Party Tent Anchors on Hard Surface - No Holes!

  • This video provides a semi-permanent solution to anchoring a car canopy or party tent to a hard surface, like a driveway, without drilling any holes! This particular footing design provides the necessary weight to hold down / secure the canopy in place and allows for additional clearance under and around the canopy. The footings can be removed leaving the mounting surface unaffected.

    Thanks. Used this for a pontoon cover for summer and it worked great. Just added some pool noodles to the poles because the boat is a tight fit and it does move some in high winds. 320 pounds of deck blocks does a good job of keeping it on the ground.

    Great idea and I hear it’s best to put that foam you have wrapped around the pole on the poles that the canopy material touches. This keep the steel poles much cooler so the canopy does not get to hot and when they do they start deteriorating where they touch the uncovered poles.

      Thank you! I have since replaced the foam with a 1.5" split wire loom which has worked out great. It is not as bulky and is serving the same purpose as the foam (protection from damage to vehicle doors, etc.). I've also added it in areas of the piping under the cover. That is a great suggestion. The foam tubing was beginning to break down due to UV exposure.

      @@BlackHoleDIY did you use the net like split with loom or the hard plastic stuff?

    • @BlackHoleDIY
      @BlackHoleDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hard plastic with the ribbed appearance. The ribs provide cushion from impact.

    Do you think if not that much height was needed this would have been just as solid mounting the feet directly to the concrete and deleting the post and bracket?

    • @BlackHoleDIY
      @BlackHoleDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, absolutely! If I didn't need the additional height I would have mounted the pole socket directly to the concrete block using appropriate screws.

      Quictent 10 x 20. I've been very happy with it. It's holding up well. The cover is beginning to show some UV damage but still in good shape. th-cam.com/video/YLCOQbjhd4c/w-d-xo.html

      Hi Sooth Sayer. I cant speak for hurricane conditions but I have had the canopy up in 35 mph gusts and the bases remained in place. For higher wind speeds I remove the cover to prevent any damage from occurring.

    • @BlackHoleDIY

      Hi Jose. "L" brackets are first screwed to the concrete base. The 4x4 is then dropped into place between the "L" brackets and secured with screws and adhesive.

    How did you stand the legs on those blocks?

    • @BlackHoleDIY
      @BlackHoleDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Travis. It took two of us. We measured the required spacing between the blocks and placed them in the desired area. Then we set the tent up so that the legs were just next to the blocks. There's enough play in each leg so you can move the tent a little at a time, like a spider walk, if needed. Two of us lifted up one side of the tent, with one of us putting a leg on the footing while the other continued to support the tent. We repeated this for the other side.
