I don't know much about music hardware and the likes. I wish I knew how they made the synth sample at the start sound like it's going through a tube. It almost has a metallic sound to it and I really like when they use that effect in their music. It shows up again mid-way through the song too.
It's a flanger effect. A very thick flanger with high feedback. It can be done with any multi effect unit they would presumably use in the 1990's and in any DAW.
