*I'm deaf in my right ear which is why I'm not wearing headphones. I know, it's a bummer not to get the panning sounds. It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. But, I'll be ok, and I'm getting both channels in the earbud, thanks for your concern :)

@Gustavo Montoya you can actually see the moment he shreds his vocal chords when the band was rehearsing "Elite". Unfortunately for Chino that squeal is how his voice sounded after he did that. Dude gave his all for this album.

One of my favorite songs ever
It's funny how even the Back to School version aged so much better than 95% of nu metal from the era. Yes, it has the cliches but the sound is so heavy and uneasy that it still works very well.
However, pink maggit is a masterpiece of a song as it is.

Since you like Mario and your dogs name is Yoshi, you should check out Japanese metal band *Dir En Grey*.
They are very experimental like Deftones but very different vocally and musically. I think you will be impressed especially by the vocals

Been really enjoying your deftones reactions dude. Some advice when it comes to interpreting chino, don't try so hard to find a literal story/narrative behind the lyrics. He rarely does that. He's said he often writes to describe an emotion or vibe. Something illusory. Thus, his lyrics are more of an abstraction than an actual storyline. Anyway keep it up and you have to do "smile". A rare one.

Correct. Music is written and then chino feels the vibe and wings it. He's genius. He went on record many times that it's purely abstract. Do with the words as you wish. No wrong answer, just feeling.
You are not wrong dude but the abstraction usually comes from the literal, Chino does sing about an emotion or a feeling, but the most of the time in a creative process you have to conceptualize things, that means observate and understand things so then you can use concepts from it and utilize them for you abstract piece, i tell you this because deftones make abstract lyrics but they follow a line and a narrative, they make it before with around the fur and i'm pretty sure that white pony talks about heroin addiction and pink maggit is a song about touching bottom, anyways you're right about enjoy the music more than analyze lyrics, the authors don't make music so people understand it the same as they do, authors make music so people can interpret it at their own enjoy that feeling and make it part of their lifes

This song was a glimpse of hope when i was going through a manic depression over the death of my father. I remember exactly where i was sitting and i will forever be grateful for this track. Thank you Deftones!

The way I interpret it is that he's pushing away someone he's had a relationship with. I think the square is like you said a nerdy or unpopular person. Feels like he's 'pushing back the square' is rejecting a girl he likes because of peer pressure IE being teased for liking someone perceived as not cool. All you are is meat = it was just a physical thing, you don't mean anything to me
What's more, I know is not SUPPOSED to be a concept album or anything, or for the songs to be interconnected thematically, but I feel like, depending on interpretation you could link most if not all of the songs I to a single narrative about a relationship going bad and taking a real bad turn if you incorporate Feitciera and digital bath

You should really listen to music with both earbuds in. You are already not getting the greatest sound quality wearing earbuds, but there's so much sound you are missing by only keeping one ear bud in.
