Thanks for this! I used to have all the old GI Joe figures from the early 70s, and had NO IDEA that the old Joe Adventure Team had a life after the 1970s in new GI Joe comics. This was fascinating.
That is Pretty Amazing I remember having his figure when I was in my teens it’s a shame from that point of time that it no longer continue it sure would be nice if seeing Bullet Man take care of Cobra
Very cool, I like hearing peoples' stories of owning the figures. Yeah, that period in the late 70s until the ARAH relaunch was one of the dark periods of GI Joe unfortunately. Still some fun stuff mixed in there though
I had Atomic Man and Bullet Man toys when I was little. Bullet Man had loops in the back of his suit so you could make him fly by running him down a string, usually into a block tower to knock it down. It was fun.
As little lads in the 1970's & 80's in England; we had some of the 12" Action Man figures. I think we both had Atomic Man with his pacemaker. I had Bulletman. The superhero vibe did it for me. Those were the days when a 12" action figure didn't cost an arm and a leg.
7:22 "Hold it you Cobra Scum" "ACK!" I drew that and the back cover for Headquarters Quarterly! I only did art for two issues. It didn't have a long run, very cool for the time. Found my first copy at Tower Records. For Novemeber, 2024, I will drawing for Tomorrow Girl #9, with Herbie Popnecker & Fatman, the Human Flying Saucer!
Xazyl! Thank you my friend. Bulletman's history is surprisingly convoluted to the point where it was difficult to untangle it all in a way that made sense for the video
Good question. So I wanted to be cautious with that part which is why I didn't go much into depth there. Truthfully, there isn't really a lot of information out there on it. I suspect it has to do with the zip line and "flying", which is essentially what Hasbro was fined for with the Eco Warriors Battle Copter. I didn't want to include that though in case it is incorrect. I'll keep research it to confirm.
I grew up in the 70s and had all these toys including Bullet Man......I knew the history or at least the one that came with the figure. But I, like a lot of kids, just made up his origins and powers. I loved the figure as they were fairly well made to play with.
Underwhelmed Forget why I had to have this as a kid. Chrome was nice and had a different face than the usual fuzzy head. But the chrome arms were weird and used the ‘64 pinching hands. The flying action was something you only set up once. Atomic Mike on the other hand was awesome.
Thank you for commenting! I knew saying that that I would see some comments about it. I do refer to them as action figures but I do have a video coming up that talks more about that terminology.
❤ I customised a Bulletgirl action figure out of the 2001 8.5 inch Masterpiece Golden Age Book w - Wonder Woman action figure doll. She's so unusual and perfect. I have a set from Catwoman, Liberty Belle, Poison Ivy to Celsius and this Bulletgirl
I can't think of John Cena's Superhero Character on a TV show but I often wondered if this could've been some kind of nod to Bulletman? They have the same helmet & almost the same outfit?
by the mid to late 70's GI joe had stopped being a war toy for boys and gi joe had became an adventure figure ? ( man's ultimate and greatest adventure is conflict= war ) and that was the beginning of the end they had atomic myke joe has a kung fu grip bullet head and the 2' ugly alien beothers who looked like an eastern euro wrestling team and joe had stopped working for uncle scam and went independent
I know who Bullet Man is--when did they make a Bullet Man doll? Sorry, I mean Action Figure! IDW? Did DC not keep ownership of the character? They did use him in the 70s and 80s a little bit.
@macsnapfu, He’s in their wikia fandom and had a daughter (with his sidekick billet girl who became his wife) who joined the Air Force in the comic’s and both him and his inspired the look for the dc female hero the Bulleteer . As far a Dc comics has it.
lol We can keep calling him an action figure! He did show up some more in DC Comics in the 1980s and 1990s too (See Starman 39 from 1998 as an example). He's still around, they just keep him to Earth-S
Finally some love for BULLETMAN!!! The Human Bullet!!! Had him!!
Didn't know about the comic books, just the figure, thank you.
Very cool! Everyone who had the figure loved it. I hope I was able to share a thing or two that you may not have known about Bulletman
"Bullet man the human buuulllet"
/Gunshot noise
Loved having Bulletman as a kid! Awesome figure to go with my other Adventure Team figures.
Very cool! He's a fun addition to Adventure Team
Thanks for this! I used to have all the old GI Joe figures from the early 70s, and had NO IDEA that the old Joe Adventure Team had a life after the 1970s in new GI Joe comics. This was fascinating.
I had a Bulletman action figure when I was ten. I loved it!
"Fire me boy!"
I get that reference.
LOL Funny enough, I had a reference to The Tick in the video but it didn't make it through editing unfortunately.
I remember this guy.
Oh my God I got this for Christmas in the late seventies! The bionic eye and he had the hooks on his back so he could slide down a string haha
One of my All Time Favorite Toys …!!!
Nice! Great choice as a favorite; he is a cool character with a very interesting story

@@JLSComics those sure some real good times especially into the 70s when ℹ myself started collecting toys from all kinds to choose from
Bulletman was a GREAT action figure back in the day! Loved ours
Couldn't agree more!
I had Atomic Man and Bullet Man toys when I was little. Bullet Man had loops in the back of his suit so you could make him fly by running him down a string, usually into a block tower to knock it down. It was fun.
The String!!!
And Atomic Man would give you cancer and appear blurry in pictures.
Great video as always!
Thanks woodman!
I saw this thumbnail and immediately thought "FIRE ME, BOY!!!"
SPOON!!!!!!!!
I had one it came with a string to hook on things so you can make him slide down it

I loved the character in the Don Newton Worlds Finest Shazam back ups❤
Same here, lots of fun stories in World's Finest
He got parodied in Dexter’s Lab in one of the Super pals segment.
haha I like the parodies and spoofs of these characters
Action figure! I’ve never played with dolls 😬
haha I hear you! I don't play with dolls either. That said, I have a video coming up that will expound on the comment I made in this video

I knew the imagery of Bullet Bulletman but not the history 😮 great video, thanks for sharing!

@@JLSComics knowing is half the battle 😅
So what was the Bulletman deceptive advertisement? You only mentioned it but didn't go into depth about that

He looks like Peacemaker. 🤔
TY!
I couldn't think of Peacemaker name a second ago!
That’s what I was thinking too!😊
More like peacemaker looks like Bulletman 😂😂😂
entirely intentional by them…and rather lazy and stupid to do so
@@SameTimeToys No. Bulletman was created in 1964. DC comics was created in the late 1930s. Peacemaker is older.
Bulletman should get some respect in G.I.Joe series. 😀👍
Shanna from Marvel.
He deserves to make a major comeback someday.
I hope he does!
I remember this guy! Dan Akroyd played him on SNL back in the day!
lol I'll have to find that clip

I did the same with a lot of mine too, we were pretty creative back then!
Only ever knew about the toy. I really like the character(s) has been given more stories though the comics.
Hopefully he'll show up again at some point
looks like he'd own a pet bald eagle and have a twisted version of achieving peace with violence ;)
haha I think they shop at the same store and have the same helmet maker
Underwhelmed

Atomic Mike on the other hand was awesome.
Respectable stance on the topic! I agree, Atomic Mike is awesome for sure
Bulletman and G.I. Joe in the ‘60’s were ACTION FIGURES, not dolls.
Dolls? DOLLS!?! 😂 Exactly what I was thinking!
Thank you for commenting! I knew saying that that I would see some comments about it. I do refer to them as action figures but I do have a video coming up that talks more about that terminology.

Peacemaker. Came to comment on this
No, not really. Peacemaker was originally a Charlton comics character and he predates Bulletman.
I have 20 of this particular action figure
Wow that is a lot!
Liked him in the IDW Joe books.
Agreed, he was pretty cool. I just wish he'd gotten more panel time
His REAL name is JAMES BARR Blessings and HUGS! 👑💜
Yes! That is his original, Fawcett name for sure
Shoot me, Dragon!!
To the nuts.

Anyone remember the Bulletman Cameo in the DC Starman?
Was that the late 90s run on Starman? Great cover art on those
@@JLSComics Yes, the Jack Knight Starman
I had atomic man and Tom stone but wanted bulletman ,NEVER saw him in stores,
The 2 you did have a very cool
Why did I read this........
Because it’s there.
I had him cool toy still wish I had him
I hope you're able to find a new one at some point
I have a satirical take on him. Really need to finish it, it's pretty silly
Peacemaker origin???
Great video. I like to pick up a 70's Bulletman action figure.
Thank you! I hope you're able to find one

LOL I hope your swimming instructor's helmet isn't to heavy to wear in the water
Ummm it's an action hero. Lol. 🤷
LOL they are action figures to me too but the US Gov't may disagree. I have a video coming up on the topic
I had Mike Power in 75 and Super Joe Commander in 77 and of course Adventure Team Joe in 73 or so. But no Bulletman, which I wanted.
You had some great figures back then, even if no Bulletman!
The show "Arrested Development" is filled with intentionally horrible characters and I always thought that "Bullet" was the most annoying of them all
lol
