Does anyone else hear it? The spirit of Beethoven? Listen to his #8 symphony in F Major... at just about and between 6:57 and 7:06... at least on the symphonic version I have... or in any other conductor's rendition you'll hear Katie's primary and loveliest notes and verses in those few symphonic notes in Beethoven's "version," two times subdued, then once more pronounced, but it's unmistakable.
However, did Katie write this song? If so, she has both an ear for what is beautiful and Beethoven as her muse and/or this torusic gift of hers resonates with his spirit. (The Germans and Russians were blessed with other very gifted composers as well.)
But I wonder at the lyrics of Katie's song: Who is "the woman/mother" about whom she is singing, specifically? Someone in real life? If Katie is a Christian I am certain she has in mind the Blessed Virgin Mary as her muse as well... who showed how much she cared (and still cares) for people, such as at the wedding feast at Cana where at Mary's behest Jesus turned the water into wine: Mary - not wanting the bride or groom to be embarrassed. And no, she's not sitting around in heaven like some worldly queen painting and clicking her nails and waiting on someone else to give her a new title...
(Well, OK... "Formatrix," a term I coined in 1988 to honor her ongoing intercessory functionality, my not knowing that the term previously existed nor that it already aptly meant "she who forms"; so that "Formatrix" is the very antithesis - opposite - of the "world matrix;" you know, the movie version to eventually make itself known as The Beast, that is, as the eternally dead end of all microchip implants.)
I like to think it is Mary whom Katie has in mind... and in heart when she sings this song. And so I have both the Virgin and Katie in mind when I sing or hum this contemporary "hymn" within myself. But I have a voice as well - which resonates and carries like that of a digital ventriloquist - and I hope to eventually provide a male version of these lyrics here on You Tube... if and when I can get the music license. In any event, Thank you Katie, Mary and Beethoven!
