  • Video #2 of 4 on the math behind how Hit Factor scoring is calculated in USPSA and IPSC.
    A deep dive into the Hit Factor equation. Includes some interesting insights into the mechanics of how points and time affect each other and how to improve your scores.
    Warning: this video is for nerds only.
    Part A (this video) is theory. Part B will be more practical with analysis of how Hit Factor changes during a stage.

    Appreciate the information. Great content and as a beginner shooter, it helps me "see the greater picture", even though it`s in the nitty gritty. Looking forward to the next episode.

    gosh, the videos are pure gems! Bullets, graphs, math, whad else do gentlemen need in life?
    being same kind of nerd, really appreciate your work on this. Keep up!

    Great information. I thought I was done with calculus when I was a premed student in undergrad. Who knew I’d be using it again for my favorite hobby?

    Major isn't cheating! It's fun! I beat a guy shooting production optics while I was shooting classic by a few points, and on one stage, the center of our bullets hit basically the same spot on the C zone, but his .355 bullet didn't perforate the A but my .451 bullet did just barely perforate the A. 45 auto for the win!!!

    Thanks for the formal information. I have a question regarding colours in your spreadsheet you put green for hit factor between 10

    • @standingreload6487
      @standingreload6487  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad you enjoyed it, Javier! Those colors don't mean anything in this video, but I left them in so it is easier to see what is going on. They reference the classification system, which I will talk about on a future video about classifiers. Since these stages I showed are classifiers, I made each level a different color: red is GM, orange is Master, yellow is A-class, green is B, light blue is C, dark blue is D, and black or gray is above 100%. Note: what represents a "good" hit factor depends on the stage's layout: how many points are available and how quickly a person can shoot them. A stage with two targets where you have to run 50 yards in between them will have a very low hit factor no matter how good you are (low points / high time), but another stage where you just draw your gun and shoot four targets that are 7 yards in front of you will have a much higher hit factor (highER points / much lower time). For example, to get a GM score on classifier Can You Count (06-03) in Open Division you need a 16.43 hit factor. On Sit Or Get Off the Shot (99-61) the GM hit factor is 5.29.

    Are you a math major or do you teach math? Why are you complicating this so much? Please stop the use of X and Y in the demonstration. This unnecessarily complicates this and is confusing.
