I doubt that the "red" designation was due to the Russians being Communists.

    • @woohooo7634
      @woohooo7634 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Quinten Whyte ( Im putting this everywhere to educate people on Ainus )
I’m partially Ainu, partially Polynesian, and partially Chukchi (Chukotkan-Kamchadal of Siberian Far East) There is an even toss up between Ainus being either from haplogroup C (Australian aborigine) or from haplogroup D (the first people out of Africa to settle Asia)
For those of you wondering about the cultural similarities between North American Eskimos and Ainus:
(keep in mind that Chukotkan-Kamchadals are part of the Eskimo ethnic and cultural family)
The Ainu language is a Paleo-Siberian language. A couple of other Siberian tribes who speak a Paleo-Siberian language include: Koryaks, Chukchis, and Itelmen (just to name a few) Languages in the Paleo-Siberian linguistic family very similar to Eskimo-aleut languages. However, they are classified as different families due to structure.
All Siberian tribes that speak a language from the Paleo-Siberian family tend to be indigenous to either Chukotka, or the Kamchatka peninsula. The indigenous people of Chukotka and Kamchatka are all ethnically and culturally related. (If not, the same) They are what we would call “Chukotkan-Kamchadals” and Chukotkan-Kamchadals, are a part of the general ethno-cultural group we call “Eskimo” which is why there are big similarities between North American eskimos and Chukotkan-Kamchadals. They are both “Eskimo”
However, Ainus are not ethnically related to Chukotkan-Kamchadals or North American eskimos. The reason that Ainu people speak a paleo-Siberian language is because of how close the Ainu live to other Paleo-Siberian speaking groups. (Ainus, geographically, are classified as inhabitants of Siberia, after all) This leads us into the next segment:
      Culture:
Ainu people’s traditional music is the same as general Siberian traditional music. They use a jaw-harp, and Ainu melodies sound very similar to Siberian melodies (or more specifically Chukotkan-Kamchadal ones)
All of the cultural and linguistic similarities between Chukotkan-Kamchadals, and Ainus are from how close they are to each other. There obviously would have been great linguistic and cultural influence.
PLEASE READ THIS, AS BACKGROUND INFO ON SIBERIANS, CHUKOTKAN-KAMCHADALS AND ESKIMOS:
Keep in mind that Chukotkan-Kamchadal culture is similar to that of Siberian Turkic culture (Yakut, Evens, etc) Chukotkan-Kamchadals culture is the midpoint between Turkic Siberian and North American Eskimo culture. ( _keep in mind that Chukotkan-Kamchadals are Eskimo, ethnically and culturally wise. However, I will continue to refer to them as Chukotkan-Kamchadals to avoid confusion._ )
ON THE TOPIC OF LIGHT HAIR AND EYES:
I am not white by any means. However, my eye color is olive and my hair is auburn/ginger. (My hair is dyed in my prof pic and I have contact lenses in) This is a genetic mutation. People can have genetic mutations that give them light hair and eyes, but not have even a drop of European blood.
Ainus can have blue eyes, but this by no means makes them white.
Let’s look at the Solomon Islanders:
The Solomon Islands are in Melanesia. 60,000 to 100,000 years ago, Africans set sail and became the first people to settle the Melanesian islands. Melanesians are basically African (black) and their haplogroups line up with that conclusion. Either way, melanesians being from Sub-Saharan Africa is a fact.
People from the Solomon Islands may inherit a genetic mutation that gives them blonde hair and blue eyes. _This does not make them white, nor does it mean that they are partially white._ I brought this up to show us that you do not have to be white to have these types of features.
      Asia and genetic mutations:
It is a common occurrence that once in a while in Central Asia, a person will be born with either green or blue eyes, or maybe auburn or red hair. The same goes for Siberia. GENETIC MUTATIONS HAPPEN. They just do. It means nothing about race.
      Bottom line:
The genetic mutations causing light hair and eyes in non-white people, is a completely different gene than the one that is passed on through white people that can lead to blonde hair and blue eyes etc. Eye and hair color does not indicate the racial identity of a certain ethnic group.
*_JUST BECAUSE A COUPLE MONGOLIANS HAVE RED HAIR AND GREEN EYES, IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEY ARE SECRETLY WHITE. NOR DOES IT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE RACE OF THE PEOPLE. IF THEY ARE ASIAN THEY ARE ASIAN. HAIR AND EYES COLOR DOESNT CHANGE THAT._*
Genghis Khan having red hair and green eyes, does not mean he was white. whatsoever. Plus, it probably was more of a tint, than full on red and green.
Ainus having blue eyes does not prove that they are “secretly white” In addition, there is plenty of haplogroup evidence to back up that they are not descendants of Europeans or white.
      Thank youuu :)
Edit: another argument for Ainus being white are the fact that some Ainus can be lighter skinned. Pure Ainus can range from tan to light. While pure Ainus are usually mostly tan, they can still be very pale. This is due to the fact that Ainus are geographically siberians. In Siberia, people _can_ be very tan (the sun actually is pretty prominent in the summer. And in winter, light bounces off of the snow) however, most siberians are light skinned due to the fact that they need to absorb more vitamin D from the atmosphere. Again, light skin does not prove race. It is a environmental adaptation.

Even though I've never been anywhere in Japan or East Asia, and I've just read about those parts, I love Hokkaido. It's quite similar in climate and many other physical aspects to New England, Upstate New York, and adjacent portions of Canada (e.g. Montreal, where I live). It's way less crowded than the rest of Japan, and the original ethnic stock (Ainu) is much different from much of the rest of Japan. Don't get me wrong, I love Japanese culture as a whole and I love the rest of Japan, but Hokkaido is something else.

Because of the ocean currents, East Asia's climate is pretty similar to North America's east coast at the same latitudes. Tokyo is at about the latitude of Charlotte, North Carolina. Sapporo is about level with Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Southern Kyushu is about level with Charleston, South Carolina. This is why Japan, Korea, and China have such humid summers compared with the relatively dry summers in the western USA.

Yayoi People were present on parts of the Korean peninsula since about 1500 BCE, before they either lived in southeastern China (possibly the Wu state) or around the Yan state. The Yayoi were not related to the proto-Koreans who arrived from Korea in the southern Korean peninsula at around 300 BCE causing the Yayoi Migration/Invasion in Japan.

Yi Sun-sin, the most worthless hero in history, of whom South Korea is proud, was ultimately killed by Shimazu soldiers and had little impact on the war, merely attacking Japanese convoys as guerrillas. In the invasion of Korea, the Japanese army attacked South Korea with 150,000 troops, but the total number of Japanese troops was 600,000. The number of 150,000 people corresponds to 25% of the total military force. Don't forget the fact that these 25% captured Seoul in 3 weeks and advanced to Pyongyang, North Korea, within 3 months. The power relationship between Japan and South Korea has always been one-sided and has never been an equal power relationship. It's not a relationship between Germany and France, it's a relationship between Germany and Poland.

Japanese people have very different faces, so the biggest identity for Japanese people is "language".
A person who speaks fluent Japanese is considered "Japanese".
A person whose father and mother are Japanese but cannot speak Japanese is not considered Japanese.
During World War II, when the Japanese army took control of Southeast Asia, Japan built schools there, taught Japanese, and gave them Japanese names.
In Manchukuo, which was created by the Japanese army, Chinese, Russians, Koreans, Mongolians, and Manchus coexisted in addition to the Japanese.

This means a Japanese person is 1.8% Caucasoid on average if all of his or her Jomon ancestry is from the North. But the problem is that there's no Japanese people all of whose Jomon ancestry is from the North except for some Ainu people. The non-Ainu Japanese ancestors of all non-Ainu Japanese people in Hokkaido or Tohoku originally came from other regions pretty recently. So the only Japanese people whose DNA results would show statistically significant amounts of Caucasoid ancestry are Ainu Japanese people, which I'm pretty sure none of the Japanese people you saw show their DNA results are.

*Update with anthropological, archeological, eugenics and linguistics evidence to debunk Koreans' claims on Japanese genetics, language and culture.
    1) Eugenics - The latest genetic research have concluded that most modern Japanese (Kofun) originated from Yangtze basin, Yellow river, China while they are not determined Han Chinese. This accounts for more than 70% of modern Japanese people. The rest are relegated to Yayoi, Jomon, Ainus, Ryukuans and the inevitable mix of these varying genetics. It's crucial to add that the Yayoi are not Koreans despite the persistent claims over the Koreans. They are related to Japanese as they are to the Han Chinese.
Japanese pirates who raided Korean coasts are recorded numerous times to be ethnic Han Chinese. Rice DNA destroys Korean migration theory. Koreans didn't even carry a majority of rice in Kyushu. The Korean peninsula is a mountainous terrain which isn't ideal for growing crops or rice. The technology of rice irrigation itself came from Yangtze river which further cements the theory of Japanese-China origins. Wa (Japan) state ruler Queen Himiko claimed herself to be descendent of King Taibo of Wu. Japanese carry far greater Ydna (O3) than Koreans even though Koreans carry a large amount as well due to Han Chinese.
Haploid 2b are given South Korean through Japanese excursions, diplomatic marriages, frequent raids from Xiongnu, Xiangbein (Mongolic) and Jurchen (Manchu) raids upon Korean territories. This is why North Koreans have almost no 2b. Koreans lacked naval abilities, navigation and sea warfare, therefore none of the Korean states dared to live close to the shores and Silla was almost completely destroyed by frequent raids from Japan. Han Chinese commandaries existed everywhere on the peninsula and even the modern day capital Seoul (City of Han) named after the Han Chinese as well as it's flag designed by a Chinese official based on Yin Yang, Bagua, I-Ching and Taoist philosophy.
Koreans are closely related to the Evenki. They also share the same practice of worshipping Totem poles which doesn't exist in Japan. Phenotype wise, Koreans have extremely thin small eyes, straight hair, big bodies, wide jaw, flat face, high cheekbones while Japanese have almond to big eyes, more refined hair, longer face, slender body, dental protusion/misalignment, bowed legs. The 2 couldn't be more different. While there are some Japanese that may look Korean, one could argue the same with some Koreans looking Chinese. There's also the migration of Zainichi Koreans after the war who accounts for Korean genes detected in the Japanese populace.
    2) Archeology/Artifacts - Jared Diamond argued that Japan had historical relics similiar to that of Korea which led to his absurd conclusion Japanese thus originated from Korea. This couldn't be further from the truth.
In the video, Jared refers to the bronze mirror called Shinjū-kyō (神獣鏡, "deity and beast mirror") which is an ancient round bronze mirror decorated with images of gods and animals from Chinese mythology. The shinjū-kyō style of bronze mirror originated from the Chinese magic mirrors and was frequently produced during the Han dynasty, Three Kingdoms, and Six Dynasties (1st-6th centuries CE). Therefore we can deduce that Koreans also copied this from the Chinese, and Japanese could be from China or learnt the techniques directly from China.
    3) Linguistics - Koreans often claim Korean and Japanese are in the same Altaic category of languages. However this is a huge fallacy. Japanese language is uniquely Japonic and Korean is a Tungus/Altaic language similiar to Evenki. Koreans would argue from the point of Korean and Japanese sharing a similar grammar. English and Chinese also share the same grammar, it doesn't make them the same. The Altaic hypothesis has also been debunked by historical linguists Alexander Vovin and Toh Soo Hee. Other than grammar, the 2 languages are not related due to a lack of cognates other than loanwords (Onyomi, Kanji + Hanja pronunciation) which are both borrowed from the Chinese language. Infact the Korean language is strongly influenced by Dravidian languages like Tamil besides Chinese. Hundreds of words, basic Nouns and pronouns like Appa (father) and Ama (mother) are exactly the same in Korean and Tamil. This is completely different from Japanese. A Korean King Suro of Gaya also married an Indian woman, Heo Hwang-ok, also known as Suriratna. The Indian connection can't be understated.

The ancestors of the Ainu are the Jōmon people, the natives of Japan. They had multiple origins. Some East Asian, Central Asian and West Eurasian. Ainu preserved West Eurasian phenotypes from one of their ancestors, which were related to paleolithic Europeans. So in other words they were predominantly Caucasoid. A Caucasoid-related component is found in modern Ainu, and in very minor percentage also in Japanese, Native Taiwanese and Ulchi of Siberia.

Genetically they are not close to other East Eurasians, but show some connections to Native American groups in the northwestern coastal areas of North America. They contributed about 80% ancestry to Ainu, 46% to Amis people (a native Taiwanese group), 8% to Ulchi, a Siberian group and 3% to Yamato Japanese. Another study suggests 10% in Yamato Japanese.

Yayoi came from southeastern China. Than they lived on southern part of "korean" peninsular. Than proto-Koreans from Manchuria invaded them and most proto-Japanese migrated to Japan. But some stayed. They are named "Peninsular-Japonic". Many recent studies say Pre-Baekje, Pre-Silla, Gaya and Tamna was Peninsular-Japonic before the Koreans came. So Yayoi can not be ethnic Koreans, as Koreans were located in Manchuria during the Yayoi Invasion of Japan.

These people came into Japan during the ice age when there was land bridge between Japan and Okinawa, Taiwan, all the way to Philipins and beyond. they look totally different from Far East Asians. Most of thse "Native" Japanese were killed off, and what remains were intermarried. That's why today's Japanese look like Far East Asian, and Not like South East Asians or Austronesians. • @jacobh9487
      @jacobh9487 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Yes. That explains the main physical difference between the Koreans and the Japanese. Quite similar looking but the Japanese are shorter overall, the Ainu input most likely. Don't know about darker. I don't think Ainu were that much darker to make a significant difference. Japanese spoken language is very similar to Korean which is very similar to Mongolian. Koreans are a mix btwn northern Mongol/Altaic input and the South East Asian input from Indian regions. Japanese are mostly ancient and modern Koreans. Just like the Anglo-Saxons who replaced the original Druid inhabitants by multiple migrations from the Viking regions of the North, there are records of continual movement of ppl from the Korean peninsula throughout history to the Japanese isles, mostly ppl who were fleeing the peninsula after their kingdoms were over thrown. There are still towns of ppl made of descendants of the Goguryeo, and Baekjae, the two kingdoms in Korea that were defeated by the kingdom of Shilla. Older Ainu inhabitants of South East Asian origin, apparently share the same fate as the Druids. They were replaced by disease, battle, colonization and assimilation. Their modern estimate according to Wiki is 25K to 200K(assumed)

I am a Nisei and I have studied "Who are the Japanese and where did they come from?"First, is the Jomon, "hunters and gatherers," who migrated from Africa with other humans and ended up in Formosa. Formosa was an Island where at least 11 other people migrated there. stheir culture is identified by a distinct rope pattern pottery. They adopted a series of Austronesian words. They hid their pottery in the hillside of Formosa and left traveling northward until they arrived at Kyushu island, Japan. There, they lived both in Kyushu and the main island of Honshu, Japan.. Thousands of years later, another group of people, Yayoi came from Korea and merged with the Jomon. The Jomon originally lived near Baikal, Siberia. The language, grammar is Altaic (Subject-Ob'ject-Verb) The Yayoi also practice Shamanism that is common in that Siberian One of Japan's queen, HImiko practiced Shamanism.that originated in the Siberian region.region. Thus, the Japanese are half Korean. My DNA matches this fact exactly. The Ainu is an enigma because most Japanese are not hairy like the Ainu. But the Ainu is said to be related to the Jomon. Around 2010, archeologists found the Jomon's pottery hidden in caves of Formosa. `Japanese language is syllabic and they did not have a written language for centuries. Without a written language, they used the Chinese characters that had the same sound as the Japanese syllabic sound. Chinee grammar is (Subject-Verb-Ob'ject). Thus, the Japanese are not related to the Chinese.

Hello, I am Takashi (hobby geneticist and interested in Northeast Asian history). It is a common misconception that all Ainu looked "Caucasian" or were very hairy. There were always many Ainu which looked typically Northeast Asian or like Inuit (long before we Japanese arrived in Hokkaido). The Ainu language itself descended from the Okhotsk culture and people which looked like Itelmens or Yakuts. Ainu history is very complex and for the sake of respect, it should be noted that the people speaking proto-Ainu and the Ainu culture largely originated from the Okhotsk, which were related to other Northeast Asians and eastern Siberians. Also, is is a common misconception that all Ainu have haplogroup D. Southern Ainu have it predominantly at 75%, while northern Hokkaido Ainu have more C (the same clade as Athabaskans in northern America). Greetings.

My understanding is that Japan had been inhabitated by Jomon people who are paleo mongolid might be moved from Southern pacific. They might be unagricultural and depended on hunting and fishing. Their skull are different from today's Japanese, and shorter and hairly. Later Yayoi people moved from East Asia continent who are known as neo-mongolid adopted to cold climate. Yayoi brought rice firm and other agricultural skills to Japan. The Japanese are overwhelmingly descended from Yayoi and Jomon DNA linage might be less than 20%. Jomon Linage is more visible among ethnic Ainu and also can be visible among Okinawan and Southern Kyushu area. There sould be more acheological study required that Yayoi people moved out of Korean peninsula and fled to Japan by push factor or came from another route.

There are numerous Japanese words which acquaint with hungarian eg. cho - Snow Tabi - eat nourish, sui - sour, hon - country etc, Hungarian sounds or words may sound japanese but their meaning is different. A similar religious aspect may also interest readers of this column. According to Japanese beliefs the Sun is a Japanese God and similarly in ancient Hungarian the Sun was also revered as God. Tests using phylogenetic relationship suggests that the Jōmon (ancestors of the Ainu) have about 86% “East Asian” related ancestry and about 14% West Asian/European related ancestry. Study made by Kanzawa-Kiriyama et al. 2019. This “East Asian related group” was the proto-Mongoloid (like Native Americans) and the “West Asian/European” was a Caucasoid group (possibly like Cro-Magnon of Europe). This results are in agreement with various other recent DNA studies and anthropologic studies. Thus the “pseudo-Caucasoid” look in some modern Japanese people (and of Ainu).

I know some Japanese nationalists will not like to hear this but the modern Japanese language and culture evolved from the original Baekje language and culture of the southern Korean peninsula. These Yamato people from Baekje went over to the Japanese archipelago during the end of the Three Kingdoms period when the Silla Kingdom (from the help of the Tang) pushed these Baekje people into Japan.
These Baekje people became the Yamato of Japan (the Wa-jin). They had superior military power and technology over the indigenous Ainu, Jomon, Hayatos, Kumabitos, Saekis, Misehashi, etc. They conquered and assimilated many of these indigenous tribes and some fled to northern Japan or the Okinawa Islands. Many Japanese don't like to acknowledge this but it is true. Japanese language and culture originated from a Korean Kingdom 1500 years ago.

But you know that pre-Baekje was Japonic. Peninsular Japonic. The proto-Japanese lived in southern Korea before they were pushed into Japan by invading proto-Koreans from Manchuria. So I think we can not say from Baelje language as the ancient Baekje language was a relative of Japanese but not of Korean. Japanese and Korean are two different language families.

@@teamaster9831 The Korean and Japanese languages have almost the same grammar even though the vocabulary is different. This is no coincidence. There must be a shared common language one time. Japanese just incorporated a lot of Austronesian words over the centuries. I'm not saying Korean and Japanese are Altaic but they do have a common source.

    • @teamaster9831
      @teamaster9831 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Grammar or typological similarities can not determine relationship. Koreanic and Japonic are not related. Japanese has only some Austronesian words. Japanese is a Japonic language. But Japonic and Koreanic influenced each other during the end of the Mumun period and during the end of the Jin state in southern Korea. They do not share a common origin. Koreanic may be a “partially Altaic” language but it is still disputed. Also proto-Japanese had SVO grammar and only since the contact with Koreanic (and maybe Ainu) Japanese changed to SOV.

Jarad Diamond recently said on TV "Japanese in the west part of Japan are Korean "
His blunt talks shocked many Koreans!! I highly respect of Japanese have kept the original ancient cultures very well while Koreans influenced by Christianity disrpected their own culture which is a big shame! We can find many ancient Korean traces in Japan!

In fact, it is said that rituals are still held in Japan to honor the Baekje people.

Japanese are the ones who propagated this false narative that Ainu are some how Caucasoid.
Ainu ARE NOT white people. If you look at old Japanese paintings done 300 years or older, Ainu are always depicted as dark skined short and hairy people, in contrast to Japanese. Also Japanese insist that Ainu came down from Siberia into Northern Japanese island, which is a lie. Ainu occupied Japanese island, and only pushed North by the Modern Japanese immigration. Ainu people entered Japanese Islands from the South, during the ice age when there was landbridge between Japan, Okinawa, Taiwan, Philippine, all the way down to Austaralia.

The Jōmon population during the Jōmon period in Japan is a mix of proto-Mongoloid and Caucasoid groups. The Yayoi population is Mongoloid from mainland East Asia. The Yayoi are the early Japonic speakers. Modern Japanese are primarily descendants of the Yayoi. Jōmon admixture is very minor. The Jōmon exhibited paternal haplogroups D-M55, C1a1 and C2. D-M55 is only found in Japan, C1a1 also only in Japan (C1a2 is found in Europeans and Arabs (minor)), and C2 is common in Siberia and Japan. The Yayoi exhibit O1, O1b2, and O2, which are common in all East Asia, Southeast Asia and some other areas. For further information please see Japanese history textbook or online library, Tokyo national museum, Tokyo University, Kyoto university, Osaka, Sapporo, and other scientific journals.

Very wrong troll, there are no anthropologic or genetic studies the support your claims. Jōmon were not Australoid and Japanese have no Australoid DNA. There is also no Australoid admixture in other Asians. Only some Southeast Asians and Polynesians have admixture. But in Southeast Asia not more than 5 to 10% and Polynesians have not more than 20%. Some even have zero. Again, get some facts.

It's been noted before that the old Japanese houses look more like something from Southeast Asia than the homes of the Central Asians. If you've ever stayed in an older Japanese house they are darn cold in the winter and the Japanese have come up with all sorts of innovations to deal with this but the old houses aren't really built for holding heat but are pretty good at being cool in the summertime...
