Hello Gabriel. Firmware is very important to a machines and should always be updated to current levels. Firmware can fix issues with copier, it can add functionality, and make to copier run smoother. Every firmware update has a list of things it will fix/improve for you to look at.

Is this any different for a 4050 bizhub? I have the firmware, extracted it, but its in a folder on the root of my zip drive, (which is FAT32), is there something to do with dip switches of file structuring?? I cant get it to do anything when booting up

You can only download the firmware if you have a Konica login. Konica only gives these logins out if you are a technician or a dealer. If you search around you may find someone who has a login and is willing to give it to you.
