    Parking your bike with the side stand on the opposite side from the tent will give you more room under the awning.

      I will give it a try next time, thanks for your suggestion.

      And it won't fall on you!

      @@nigelmtbAgreed. I ALWAYS parked my bike on the side stand AWAY from the tent ⛺️. Short of earthquakes and meteor strikes, I felt fairly safe doing it that way.

    Alton goods has just brought out a hiking bivvy(swag). It is smaller but new technology with waterproofing and breathability. Combine it with their 3mX3m hiking tarp and you have a larger covered area but it would also be less than one quarter the size and weight of that swag once packed down. Could be worth looking at for anyone thinking of lightweight travel for bikes.

      I do have their 3x3 tarp as well as the smaller one, I’ll have a look at as the swag is great for solo riding, but I can’t have a pillion on the bike with this setup. Thanks for sharing.

    Can you close the door flaps on both sides? Can never tell on these reviews if the "bike side" flap has a zipper as well..

    • @CapturingTheRideAus
      @CapturingTheRideAus  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes you can, the side with the bike flap, has another canvas flap which is black and it zips closed. Both sides can zip shut, as well as the end flaps.

    Saw these on release. Geeze $800 in Aus. To dear for this Black Duck.

      Yes, very expensive I agree. I don’t regret the purchase though. Hopefully it’ll last a decade or more of camping!

    • @penguinvic9892
      @penguinvic9892 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed, a bit on the expensive side but it’s all relative. Use the swag 4 times instead of staying in a motel and it pays for itself. Use it 90 times on a 3 month trip and it’s less than $10 a night.
      And unlike a lot of swags, this one looks roomy and NOT claustrophobic.

    Nice looking swag. Not my thing, but I enjoyed the review mate. Stay upright 🙂

    That swag is great? Can't really see much difference than many others at half even a quarter of the price. To get it compact for on a bike. Ditch the foam mattress for and inflating one. Use a silk bag liner and wear thermals. What bag you use is up to you. My swag set up is quarter that size on my bike. Fits inside a Gear Sack Bag. I'll spend the money on petrol. Thanks anyway. Thanks for your input Jim, it's likely a never ending journey to have the perfect setup, continually upgrading and trying new things. I guess Its just part of the adventure! Cheers Tony

    I would be very awry of having the bike on the side stand with you basicly sleeping underneath it... I think a better option would be to park on the center stand with tent on the left side..

    • @CapturingTheRideAus
      @CapturingTheRideAus  ปีที่แล้ว

      First few times that’s how I set it up, I don’t have a centre stand, but I do make sure it’s solid ground underneath, or I put a rock under the stand.

    How small does it pack down. That's the question for me

    • @3h33am
      @3h33am 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      4:45 pretty darn huge

    • @CapturingTheRideAus
      @CapturingTheRideAus  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Doesn’t pack down that small, I lay it across my pillion seat, that’s the only way I can take it, but one good thing is it acts as a back rest then.

    BETTER SWAG - DARCHE - DUSK TILL DAWN. SAME DESIGN BUT THICKER CANVAS AND BETTER INSULATED MATRESS. HALF THE PRICE ONLY $400 AU. silly man for buying a pommy swag lol.

      @CapturingTheRideAus  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Lol, I think I had a look at them and they roll up a bit bigger. The canvas is really good and thick actually. Camped in pouring rain and didn’t get a drop inside. But yes, unfortunately it’s a pommy swag! Lol
