What a grand culmination of the first six parts in this concluding summary of seventh part by IIGS Team! I like to specially congratulate the script writer Kaviraj Singh for naming the title " SAFAR"( SPIRITUAL JOURNEY). The evolution of sikhism was itself the result of a long journey of 239 years by the 10 Gurus from the birth of Guru Nanak Dev ji in 1469 till the death of Guru Gobind Singh ji in 1708. Till date, no other religion of the world has had a team of such continuous spiritual masters who taught their disciples first-hand one-to-one, and summarized the sum total of their teachings in a holy book -Guru Granth Sahib. And that even duly certified by the tenth guru. Take any other religion. Every other religion has one founder. ( Hinduism does not have even a founder) When the founder dies his teachings are propagated by his different disciples who keep poliferating them through dissimilar interpretations over the years. In case of Guru Granth Sahib, no one is allowed to change even a comma in its 1430 pages. I would like to mention the comments on Guru Granth Sahib by the most famous historian of the world late Arnold Toynbee who has published his gigantic book, in 12 huge volumes on World History from the very begining ,covering every aspect including rise and fall of big civilizations and religions. He says "OF ALL KNOWN RELIGIOUS SCRIPTURES THIS IS THE MOST VENERATED. THERE CANNOT BE A BETTER GUIDE FOR HUMAN BEINGS THAN THE SRI GRANTH SAHIB" I repeat that the script writer Kavi Raj has chosen the most apt title of this 7th part "Safar or Spiritual Journey". In fact the tenetments, principles and philosophy of sikhism germinated in the mind of our founder Guru Nanak Dev ji as a result of interaction and experience gained during his four long journeys in four different directions over a contiguous span of 22 years covering not only all parts of India but also so many foreign countries. So, it is the most practical religion. Ample number of books on sikhism are available now. But it is a proven fact that on a first reading a reader retains only a small part, and that too for a short time . On the other hand a viewer who is seeing a drama or film retains a large part for a long time. What was hitherto missing in the propagation of sikhism so far was the lack of a visual drama-based explanation and interpretation of sikh principles in the simplest day-to-day dialogues. It is here that IIGS Team has taken a lead over all other sikh organisations through these 7 episodes. I hope the IIGS Team will further develop and hone up this methodology of depicting sikh history and principles through a series of short films. IIGS was the first organisation to start the novel method of teaching practical sikhism through sikh youth camping movement almost 50 years ago. Let it again take the lead by becoming the forerunner of another new movement of preaching sikhism through the medium of short films, telefilms and the like.
