- Fixing 100s of paint chips on the 986. The hood, bumper, fender, and other body panels were covered in paint chips. The best way to touch up paint chips is with a fine line painting pen. It allows you to be very precise with your touch ups. This takes the 986 project car one step closer to "restoration" (if you could call it that), and allows me to proceed with paint correction (polishing) and ceramic coating.
The fine line painting pen used in this video can be purchased on amazon - amzn.to/3RMojlZ
Purchasing through that link doesn't cost you anything extra but it helps support the channel!
Touch up paint was purchased here - touchupdirect.com
The hood of my 986 S looked exactly the same when I bought it. I touched all of them up with the paint and now it looks better. Nice car you have there!
Thanks!
Done the same to my Boxster using a toothpick for those tiny chips. Turned out fantastic, especially after a polish.
I could see that working. Good idea!
nice job, that tool is pretty nice. Cant wait to see it after a proper paint correction.
Nice job … did you buy separate paint for the fine line pen or did you use the paint from the touch up pen? I have a 2003 Boxster S with similar paint chips … thanks for posting
I used the paint brush in the touch up paint to fill the fine line pen.
the pen arrived today and a touch up paint bottle is due tomorrow … looking forward to trying this out … thanks again
I just purchased ##1156. It has yet to take possession, but I can hardly wait. If it is anywhere as nice as my base 2004 Boxster I'll be a happy man.
My boxster is artic silver, is there a way to get that in touch up paint? Differently needs some touch ups! I like your results, and made it look simple, thanks!
Yes. Put in your year, make, model on touchupdirects website. It’ll come up.
@@LenartoGarage 2006 boxster s artic silver and also looking for rear qtr.panel fender stickers in artic silver, original are cracked and faded. Need to replace both. Thanks !
@@MK-su6egyou’ll have to do it yourself bud! I don’t offer a service where I do that for you 🙂
