Hi, do yo/could you supply a wiring harness for my Gretsch G2420 Streamliner? My jack is a very tight fit with my lead & my bridge pick-up is intermittently silent (fine again once the guitar is shaken). My thoughts are if i'm going to pull out all the wiring I may as well replace them with decent parts. Thanks.
Thanks for all of the soldering tips. Made huge improvement in my guitar soldering. Also enjoy all of the tech tips. Congrats on the Guitar magazine review.
I don't even know which video would be most relevant to make this statement but you do impeccable friggin work brother. I used to inspect solder joints at a company where the electronics absolutely need to be reliable or it costs a quarter million US dollars to fix and this is the most beautiful soldering I've ever seen. Also, thank you for openly sharing your knowledge. I'm super excited to experiment with my guitars. Looking to get into building some unique rigs, if I manage to make a go of it I'll be sure to throw some business your way as a thank you.
So today I did the nerd thing and bought this soldering iron station after watching this. Out with the old and in with the new. Great piece of kit based on my couple of practice runs. 👍🇦🇺
IMHO, your videos are probably the best I've found for guitar wiring and soldering. You're also an excellent communicator. One question I have is regardin the two blue handled tools that you use; what is there proper description and/or a link to where they might be purchased. Thanks
Thanks 👍I don't know the technical name for them (Except pointy, sticky thing) but you can get them here: www.stewmac.com/luthier-tools-and-supplies/tools-by-job/tools-for-electronics/stewmac-soldering-aids
Big fan of your channel, congrats on getting the well deserved kudos!! Long story short I am wanting to wire an older set of Humbuckers 2 wire and 3 wire (not the 4 wire humbuckers) in an old strat body I have laying around. Specifically I want two volume pots and 1 tone w/a 3 way blade switch with a no/off/on Dip switch for extra tones. I would like the dip in middle position to be a cut off. I don't see that you have any HH strat wiring videos, I am just blind? I keep watching content so I can learn how the figure these wrings out myself, still not there. Any advice would be appreciated. Be Well
hi , really love your videos , are the best on youtube! May I ask you might you release a video about how de-solder/remove old wiring with lots of old solder alloy and twisted cables on the pots? They are a nightmare thanks , ps congratulation for the guitar magazine!!!
Hey, can you tell me how the sound of your intro riff is generated? Which guitar is used? Amp? Speaker? Pedal? Tuning? Mic? Any information would be much appreciated. I love that "boxy" "bouncy" sound! Really beautiful!
@@SixStringSupplies thank you very much for your answer! Am I correct that the line 6 amp is modeling other amps and overdrive sounds? May I ask what kind of settings you used? How big or small is the amp (watts and speaker size)? Sorry for bothering you with this, but it really makes me curious.
Hello from Kansas City, great channel & very helpful! A question, do you have thoughts about using shielded wiring on the hot signal wires to reduce single-coil Stat noise?
Thanks! Yes, for longer distances I’d use braided cable, for shorter lengths like on a jack socket in a Tele/Strat you can twist both wires together. Wrapping the ground around d the signal wire helps
flux and tinner are ideal if you have all the time in the world. We use flux cored solder and tin the tip with solder, keeping it clean with brass shavings solder tip cleaner.
Hi there, I was wondering if you could help me with something. I bought myself some 20 AWG tinned copper buss wire and just got around to using it when I was rewiring my Strat. Got it all finished up and put back together, plugged it in and it was crazy noisy. Hum like I’ve never heard before in my go-to Strat. Took everything apart and only swapped out the ground wire (with standard 22 AWG cloth wire) and it’s quiet as a mouse. I guess what I’m asking is, is all buss wire created equal? Or could I have bought the wrong kind?
I have a question, I want to use Seymour Duncan mini humbuckers in my telly, I want to be able to coil split them but also run them in sequence and parallel, can that be done? ✌️

thanks man - really appreciate that! Hope the videos help you with your guitars
Congratulations on the Editors Gold award. Well deserved for a great product. 👍🇦🇺
CONGRATULATIONS MATE 👍🎉✌️😁!!!
Thanks man!
My god I wish I had just a fraction of the parts that you’d have!!! Projects for DAYS!!!!
Haha I’m actually running low on pots. Plenty of switches 👍
Kudos on the magazine article. Thanks for taking the time to make this video during this time. Wish you well.
You too John stay well.
Congrats on the write-up in Guitar mag! Love your content, man. Keep up the good work!
Cheers man!

@@SixStringSupplies Thanks for the prompt reply!
Great achievement!
Also love this level of detail
Well done on the magazine. Your channel has been very helpful with preparations for my new humbucker and hardware installation
Thanks man and that's good to hear. Happy to have helped in some way.
Congrats!!! Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you!!
@@SixStringSupplies Your welcome! I appreciate everything you do! ❤️
Just ordered myself a Hakko FX-888D, thanks for the video.
Congratulations man!
Another great video ... thanks .. what size conical tip are you using ? thanks
We always have a Friday bank holiday in England: Good Friday (Easter). This is the first Friday bank holiday that is not Good Friday :)
Yep Epic fail on my part that :)
@@SixStringSupplies Haha, we all do it...
Great video! Thanks for all the insight. Btw whats a good name for that two prong tool? I could really use one but not finding exactly it.
Can you make a video on putting the jimmy page harness in a les paul

Great video! Love the two devices to help hold the wire. Where can I find the this tool from or is a screwdriver good enough? Thank you!

Is 370C hot enough for backs of pots? Sure I set mine around 430C for that...
Works well with the solder I use, for ground wire on kits but crank it to 410 when soldering braided wire to back of pots.
Hi can you do a Precision Jazz bass wiring. I really like how you do your videos.

Hey, thanks: recorded into an iPhone, line 6 amp, Epi Les Paul. No pedal. About as basic as it gets :)

Please tell us what that thing is you clean the soldering iron tip in is? thanks - you make great videos.
Hi yes i completely forgot to discuss this. Brass shavings: www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=solder+tip+cleaner&_sacat=0
Thanks for the detail, some of us do need this in our lives! What are your thoughts on flux and tip tinner?
flux and tinner are ideal if you have all the time in the world. We use flux cored solder and tin the tip with solder, keeping it clean with brass shavings solder tip cleaner.
So what size is the tip?

What gauge is the tinned copper wire ??
1mm (18 AWG)
I have a question, I want to use Seymour Duncan mini humbuckers in my telly, I want to be able to coil split them but also run them in sequence and parallel, can that be done? ✌️
Yes should be able to. There are lots of diagrams on the Seymour Duncan website
After seeing all those pots, caps and switches and wire my eyeballs just popped out of me head😲...
Yeah there's lots there. Bit low on some of the pots, but otherwise we're good to go for a while.
