    Looking for a long-term review of The Farmer's Dog? I've got you covered.
    Our three dogs have had over 1,000 meals of The Farmer's Dog, and this healthy dog food review covers pretty much everything I've learned about this popular online fresh dog food delivery service. From delivery, to prices, to if our dogs actually like it (they do!), I go over pretty much everything you'd ever want to know about The Farmer's Dog because you're probably looking for the best and healthiest dog food that can fit your lifestyle.
    Since we have a senior dog, puppy, and a dog in the middle, we've had a wide range of experience with this food, and it's helped us find out how much dogs actually like this food. The Farmer's Dog's fresh dog food recipes aren't raw, and they come in 4 different recipes (chicken, beef, turkey, and pork). These lightly cooked meals for your dogs include meat, supplements, vegetables, and fiber that take care of all of your dog's nutrition for you.
    Having a subscription to The Farmer's Dog has been a great fit for our family for nearly two years. We've had such a good experience that I think it's absolutely one of the best online dog foods available, even when it hasn't been 100% perfect, and we haven't been tempted to switch to a competitor like Ollie or other that pop up on Instagram ads.
    Here are a few other videos that I've done about our experience with it:

      it has nothing to do with being costly... it is not... it has to do with the fact almost no company is reliable on testing ingredients to the level of royal canine ... this is the reason it is so hard to trust... there is a provable digestive track record there... there are many years and almost no issues ever with the digestive system... i would pay 200 dollars a pack for any human grade food for dogs if they could put the money where their mouth is....literally would pay 200 dollar a pack... but no one does... no one own the facilities and no one does the testing of the ingredients and the trials needed... only select few... pretty much 2-3 companies.... sadly

    We've had our girls on The Farmer's Dog for almost a month now, and they love it! One benefit that I don't see mentioned often is lower poop volume. Our two dogs are pooping less on this diet than their previous food (Kirkland Adult dry kibble + Science Diet wet), which to us means that they're digesting this food more efficiently. Also, a tip for getting ALL of the food out of the plastic packets - thaw at room temp for about 1-1.5 hours, then cut the bag away with a pair of scissors, put the solid block of frozen food in a covered container, and pop it back in the fridge to finish thawing. Not only does this allow you to get every molecule of product out of the bag, but it also makes portioning and serving SO much easier and is much less messy.

      That's so great to hear! The smaller poops make a BIG difference! Thank you for adding the tip about feeding!

    Farmers Dog has the the very best customer service to change portions. Change recipe. Etc. Its not cheap but seems better priced than similar companies. We use plastic deli pints the pouch when cut open fits perfectly to store in refrigerator. My dogs did not transition just dug right in. I highly recommend. Oh and we camp a lot so it’s so simple to change delivery dates. You can text. Like a friend. Lol. No I do not work for them 😊

    I appreciate your honest reviews. I switched my dog to Farm’s Dog, and initially she loved it. Now, I think it’s too cold, for her. I’m thinking of warming it up a bit, by placing the serving, over warmed water, in a double boiler? I don’t want to destroy the nutritional value, however.

    • @davechung
      @davechung  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! We do warm water on top of the food for one of our pups all the time! If it’s not boiling hot, the nutrition should be good!

    I’m accepting a rehomed dog that has only eaten human food. I’m hoping this is my answer. I’m not able to “slowly” transition since she is going to be in a new home, and she can be picky I was told. Cross my fingers this she will like this.

    • @davechung
      @davechung  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s definitely worth a shot! Since she’s used to human food, you might be able to get the beef recipe and mix it with some cooked ground beef to get her used to it, but I hope she likes it right away!

    My Shiba is 13 also. Always been a wonderful healthy active service dog. Recently got injured by our 2 pit mixes when then ran into him as they tumbled near him. He lost use of his back legs for about 3 months. It's been about 4 months and probably every paycheck of mine to try hydrotherapy and laser therapy. He is on medications and been able to regain use of both legs but only small distances at a time. I am so glad someone as honest and thorough as you did a review on this. My only question is does any of your dogs have renal or kidney issues? I've always feed Shiro boiled chicken and white rice. Ate kibble on the side whenever he was hungry. I wanted to switch him over so he could get his nutrients but my vet doesn't know how this compares. He doesn't have any renal issues but the test showed elevated enzymes but nothing too high. I chose physical therapy because his mobility was more important. Now that it's better I'm hoping I can try and improve his diet.
    Am the same Dave. Thank you so much for this video. You answered so many questions and concerns. ❤
    Lily

    Dog food is nice. My long haired dachshund is kind of private and likes to eat when she feels she’s not being watched. Farmers dog food is a bit expensive. My Dachshund is less than 12lbs and a 28 day supply is just over $152.

    I’m wondering if the portion sizes are enough for my dogs. I feed them 3 1/2 cups a day in 2 meals. They are 64 and 84 lbs

    • @davechung
      @davechung  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a great question! They customize meal sizes using calories based on your dog’s size and activity. Since each of your dogs weighs more than all three of ours combined, it’d be pricey and much more than what our dogs get, but they’ll take care of the amount for you.

  • @worldofdre2232

    I normally feed my dog once at 12 and last time at 8pm. On their package is says 1/4 per day. So do I split that 1/4 into two, or should I give him 2/4 of the bag a day? Should I use my own measurements?

    • @davechung
      @davechung  ปีที่แล้ว

      Based on that, I would split the 1/4 into two meals. You could double check with their support team, but that’s how I’d do it! After a week or so, you’ll get used to how much that looks like per meal, which makes scooping the right amount pretty easy!

    • @davechung
      @davechung  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Michael! The amount that you'll feed your lab varies based on the size of the dog and how much is in the pack because it's personalized to your dog 🙂 When you order (thefarmersdog.otegtm.net/davechung), each pack will have instructions for how much to feed your dog. Our dogs eat so little because they're much smaller than yours, haha.

    I tried the Farmer’s dog my dachshunds ate the food for 2 months then stopped eating it so I tried Just for dog dog food they liked that too. I still feed them that. I’m on Ollie now get at petco 1 pounds you get 5 of them for 33.84 which isn’t bad. I see there get sick of Ollie now so gonna try Nom Nom. I also tried Darwin’s raw food. I have to cook it on the stove for them so that’s done with Darwin’s raw food. I want to try evermore dog food the owners get the food it made me sick it’s all human but it’s still for your dog. There’s Lotus kibble I want to try too go back to kibble I tried Pet plate kibble they wouldn’t even smell it. So I know dog food.

    Siri you’re a joke I have a 12 pound dog and I paid $200 a month for its turkey from farmers dog food so I don’t know how you can feed all your dogs for $200 a month off of cat food when he eats a 14 day supply is seven, he gets a half a packa day a trip how much are they paying you for this promotion?

    • @davechung
      @davechung  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am looking at my account right now, and I pay $208.19 for 23 days of food for 40 total pounds of dog, which is $9.05 per day That would be about $271.50 per month for our 3 dogs to eat one pouch per day between the three of them.
      I get the biggest box available to me every time, so they save money on shipping. That's a lot of the cost. It's just economies of scale. Because I buy more at once (volume discount), and our dogs share a pouch (less packaging cost), it's cheaper because they're not all counted as individual dogs with their own pouches..
      (They pay me $0 for the video btw, just have my affiliate link like other TH-camrs)
