I have been just spenning my wheels and going no where.I thank you so much for unlocking this for me.After many years and $$$$ my dream can come true.Thank you from a 74 yr. Old man.
BOY DO I WISH THIS LESSON WAS AROUND FOR ME WHEN I WAS EIGHTEEN YEARS OLD IN 1953.WHEN I LEARNED TO PLAY A CHET ATKINS SONG BY EAR AFTER SEEING A GUITAR PLAYER IN CONCERT BY BARRING THE THE FIRST FOUR HIGH STRINGS ON THE THIRD FRET WITH MY 1ST FINGER AND THEN PICKING OUT THE WHOLE SONG FROM THAT POSITION AND THEN ON UP THE NECK ON THE 1ST. STRING. I COULD HAVE GONE ON TO BE A REAL COUNTRY GUITAR PLAYER.
Hey man. I been playing guitar over 20yrs. But just a hobby. I'm self taught. Can't read music but have a really good ear. I hit a plateau when it came to writing solos because I lack the basic fundamentals of scales and theory. Taught myself bad habits. Your videos have really reached me. I tried lots of TH-cam guys and they are great. I been forcing myself to master one lesson a day from you and revisit it the next day until it sticks before moving on and I have to say? You have completely opened up my fretboard and I can't thank you enough. I was getting bored. Putting it down for a bit pick it back up few months later until I get bored again. I'm sure you get these msgs all the time but you have made me excited about guitar again. Had to reward myself with a new gretsch. Can't wait to stay on this journey. Thank you so much.
Eddie, That was so great, I have been playing for 76 Years and no one ever told me of this. I have been teaching my great grand kids some on the guitar, boy are they in for a treat.A big Thank you. I know just what I will be doing for the summer.
Another awesome lesson! Eddie just rocks...I learn from all of his videos. Being a GMM VIP member has let me interact with Eddie and he takes an interest in all of his students. I don’t know how he finds the time, but he goes out of his way to respond to questions and to lend moral support. For someone of his stature in the music world to be that way is beyond awesome.
I am 69 years old and a self taught guitar player. I am very limited on what I can do on the guitar but, this video it will help me expand my capabilities. Thank you from an old struggling guitar player.
Not only did you explain it,you also showed us how to play it. Finally, the lesson I have been waiting for has arrived. Thank you very much for this. I don’t feel so lost anymore. All I need now is time to practice and I am sure to get better. Once again, thank you! God bless you brother!
Seems like a lot of us in the 70's and even 80's are getting serious about the parts we never truly understood. Wear that guitar out, the grandkids will get their own. lol
Eddie, I am GMM VIP member. Love this, I have learned more from you, Charlie and team in the last two years than the last 30 since I picked up a guitar. Eddie is a top notch player and teacher, if you want to finally really learn how to play check out anything Eddie puts out and Guitar Mastery Method. Forever grateful!
Favorite country artist is Merle Haggard. I've played by ear all my life but watching your video has given me new direction in my playing and makes a lot more sense.
I'm solely a VIP member due to your lessons. Just completed the rhythm & lead workshop, which improved my skills tremendously. This is another killer lesson. Guess I'll hit the country course next!
Wow, you are so kind to share tips like these to help us novices get ahead in our abilities. I once paid for lessons from a guy who actually said to me. " I can't show you all my tricks " when I asked him to show me some licks that might help me to learn to solo. Great teacher huh? This video is so helpful. Thank you.
Thank you so much for a great lesson. My favorite is Roy Clark, Glen Campbell, Keith Urban, Merle Haggard, Brad Paisley, the list goes on and on...you get my point. They are all great! Since I'm on my box, I hate the GOAT thing. I don't believe there is a GOAT of anything. They are all artist, athletes etc. and have their own unique talents. I appreciate them all. Just like you sir. You rock man. My biggest takeaway is that being a blues fan, you showed me some great technique that can be used in both. Of course, country is blues rooted. I have been playing now for a year and a half, I have loved music all my life, but now I want to create my own. I'm 64 and I have certainly found a new passion. Thanks for your time and great energy sir.
I wish I can give him a thousand thumbs up this system is Bulletproof yes I am blown away I can play country now the people that gave him a thumbs down there must be something wrong with them
I been watching your videos for a while now and decided to join Guitar Mastery Method! And lo and behold! I’m already a member!! I didn’t know you and Charlie were both part of the same system! Like winning the lotto!!!
I played guitar a little when I was younger and basically quit playing because I hit a wall....This has me wanting to buy a guitar and start playing again...you simplified things beautifully! Thanks!
Great lesson, I live in Venezuela, my dream is to become a country music guitarist, the most difficult thing for me has been that in my country nobody plays country music, there are no bars, there are no country music teachers, everything has been by myself, I'm still learning. 1- one of my favorite guitarists is Brad Paisley, for his wrong notes and open strings 2- don't need to be afraid of solos thanks
My favorite country guitar player is probably one of these guys: Grady Martin, Hank Garland, and Paul Yandell. My favorite country artist would probably be one of theseguys: Faron Young, Webb Pierce, The Louvin Brothers, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, and Wanda Jackson. My biggest take away was to make sure I'm playing the chord tones.
I really don’t follow country, but I dig JJ Cale. The ability to turn 3 notes into 12 licks has certainly gotten my attention, Eddie. Looking forward to tomorrow. t
I want to invent a time machine, take the stuff back to my 15 year old self, hand it over to him/me, see what I do with it. I know these tricks now, but it’s taken me years and years of playing, ours an hours and hours a day of practicing, and not being afraid to make a mistake especially while on stage and take that mistake and turn it into a good thing by using different techniques such as blues bands or other type of string bending techniques. Being a blind guitar Player precludes me from being able to see what other people are doing, so I had to spend hours and hours trying different ways and different finger exercises to get to the knowledge I currently have. A couple of years with a guitar instructor did not hurt either. I would’ve given anything to have this guy Eddie as my guitar instructor. I would’ve truly shredded bag in the late 80s and early 90s.
Wow! Mind officially blown! I never realized how fun country guitar is to play. This lesson is totally doable, i mean hey, if I can understand it, yes I'm old and slow, anyone can. I love Jon Anderson. His voice is just soooo cool. Especially when hes playing tunes with Mark Knofler. That's a pairing made in heaven right there. Thanks a million Eddie, I'm gonna start working on this right away.😉
Sincerely one of the best teachers on TH-cam...really had a couple great breakthroughs today! Thank you!!! Great mix of theory, slow and patient with showing what you’re doing, with no nonsense approach to theory I have known but now know better how to use it appropriately...I am a convert...I will be following you religiously. Thank you!! (Oh and now I finally understand what makes a lick a country lick!)
I am a true beginner and have been using youtube for tutorials, I love this lesson however I find it of great benefit to have a finger placement diagram in one of the corners to help. I had a difficult time seeing which finger & fret you were using at first. I did figure it out and found it to be a fun lesson. I still have more of it to watch, thank you.
I have been playing guitar since 1964 and found your major scale position method very useful. I started playing rock and blues and developed a country method using the 6 minor (related) chord position to develop my country style. Using that position I had a 4 finger closed scale anchor that was directly related to a blues (minor scale) fingering. I have found that this position (played modally) up and down the neck, gave my country playing access to several multi string bends related to the country style. Along with the major barre chord position, which has given my country playing an R&B feel, I find your method has given me a new insight into some areas of improvisation to explore. Although I am considered an accomplished player in my area and circles I have found this video helpful in my continued growth as a player.
Favorite Country Artist: Waylon Jennings My biggest takeaway: Being able to take the 1,3,5 and use those and the notes to create an exponential endless run of riffs and solos. Great concept Sir. The possibilities are truly endless!
Great lesson. I too, after years of playing, stumbled onto the very thing. Keep on putting the lessons up! 1. Prolly Vince Gill; absolutely amazing! 2. Your willingness to explain the 3-note system. Most of us never had anyone that was willing to break anything down to its basic components. You just did.
Rolling Stone's are my favorite Country BandNow if I do this every day for a week maybe I will remember, no choice is a must. Thank you for busting down a wall
Wow,great teacher!Never patronising and passes on information on theory and practical tips with ease.I feel a fool for not seeing some of the things taught here before but feel like a million dollars for knowing them now.Thankyou very much.Bonus :due to your lessons my interest in jazz and country music has been awoken,so thanks for that too.
Biggest take away for me from this video is it opened up a little more of the fretboard in a manner that was easy to understand. Thank you so much. I look forward to rewatching this video and then checking out some of your other ones.
I’m an old timer, so I’m a Jerry Reed and Roy Clark fan. Really got a lot from the 1-3-5 approach, something I was never taught or figured out on my own.
Brent Mason is the man! Even better, I get to sit in with him on Oct. 12th for a 2 hour session being sponsored by my local guitar shop here in McKinney, TX. I am so freakin' excited. I can't wait. Eddie, you're great. My favorite GMM instructor (psst, don't tell Charlie or Owen). I caught this lesson a while back and have all the licks down pat. I'd like more, like the stuff you were playing on the lesson's lead in. That's cool stuff!! OBTW - I almost have the lead guitar solo to The Eagles, Take It Easy in the bank.
My favorite guitar player is James Burton. He is the master of the telecaster. He has a way of using these little hooks to draw you in and is the best country blues player all rolled into one.
Hey Eddie, I don't have a favorite country guitar player. Best take away is being able to move licks to play along with different chords. Great lesson!
Great lesson. Biggest takeaway is to target the chord tones - 1, 3, 5. Fav. country artist right now is Keith Urban - great guitarist - adds a modern take to country music.
You are an AMAZING teacher my friend. I've been playing for 2 years & u taught me a couple of things that I wasn't aware of on the major scale. THANK U:)
Double stopping and chicken pickin to me is one-off the hardest style so master. I've seen some greats like Albert Lee, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Roy Clark, to name a few and they're awesome!!
I like you man....just what I needed as I've gotten stale in., blues and rock....I know major scales but never really learned how to use it ....thanks brother
Great video you have made it easy tf o obtain a goal I will be becoming a member very soon. There are so many country greats. Travis Tritt is an awesome player Chris Stapelton. Merle Haggard is my all time favorite. I love ole school country thanks again Eddie for what you do
Another easy to follow lesson. Thank you. You make it sound so easy and when you break it down in bite-sized licks it is. I don't know many country artist, to be honest, as I am like yourself...starting in rock and trying to learn some country licks for a different taste. But Buddy Holly springs to mind who, I think, did some great rock n roll tunes too. I am taking away from this lesson that maybe I should not be blinkered too much and try another genres for hints, tips and great techniques. Cheers Eddie I enjoy your lessons.
Thank you bro. This is huge .. been trapped in the pentatonic / blues box and you gave me an “ I know Kung fu” from the matrix moment , only it’s “I know country “ 🥷 🎸
1. Andy Wood as Country Guitar Player 2. 1st 3rd 5th of the Major Scale...and the licks Awesome job as an instructor. I am getting the most in the least amount of time listening to you! Great Pearls of Knowledge!!! Thanks 😎✌🏻Johann
Jerry Reed is my favorite country player! Love the thinking or conceptualizing Major scale, but mainly you show to play country you must follow the changes. So my biggest takeaway has to be a thank you, thank you for not playing a blues lines over country.
Very cool, something to get my teeth into that covers 3 popular chords to dance with and perfect. Thank u very much. Like ur teaching style my man. U know i cant choose a favourite just now except for yourself. So you are presently my favourite :) thanks again from me and Ireland 🎶🎸✌
WOW Eddie! That lesson has really opened up Country guitar music for me. So detailed, with clear instruction, explanation and demonstration. Can’t wait to give those four licks a go. You make it sound as if guitar theory isn’t that difficult to understand. Sorry I can’t give you a favourite artist, but the whole lesson was the best thing that I took away from it. If push came to shove, then I guess your speed of delivery was excellent. Thank you. Can you direct me to any other similar level lessons? Cheers Eddie.
Charley pride is my favorite country singer, your explanation of what you were doing was perfectly understandable, Wilkie Nelson is probably my favorite guitarist right now
My favorite artist, Joe Satriani and somehow have found myself interseted in country lead playing. After 30 years of playing rock oriented intrumental music I'm getting to re-live discovering guitar playing. Favorite guitarist Rhett Shull.
Fantastic lesson Eddie! A boat load of great information, explanation & visual demonstration. A lot to absorb, but you've clearly shaken the mystery out of this style of playing major chord triads! 🙏🏾👍🏽👍🏽 thank you! Johnny Cash & Willie Nelson are my two favorite singer, song writers.
I enjoyed your video. Unlike most vids here, yours was clear and concise. In most vids on TH-cam, the person rambles and often repeat themselves trying to make a point. I also saw you’ve played with Eddie Money. What a loss. He was a great guy. Very funny.
My favorite artist is Merle Haggard. Not because of his guitar playing but his presence on the stage is phenomenal. As far as your lessons, they were great. I just need to practice them more. Loved it.
"You don't choose your journey, the journey chooses you" - how true is that in music production, btw! I'm gonna have to steal your phrase after watching this :D
I don't have a favorite country guitar player I'm not a huge fan of country music but this lesson is great Eddie my biggest take away is chord chasing using the same patterns for each chord also thought that if the chord is a minor chord then just flatten the 3rds thanks for a great lesson

Time to practice is always the tricky part.
Wow worth a Million, Thanks. Fav is luke Combs, I learned that I can do this, hey I'm 70 running out of time. Been playing since 1965.
@Glen Chidley Wporkin on it, but every time I turn on the camera I fall apart.
Seems like a lot of us in the 70's and even 80's are getting serious about the parts we never truly understood. Wear that guitar out, the grandkids will get their own. lol

You just jumped over 20 years in one easy lesson. I haven't played in years and you just brought me up to date. Thanks!

Honestly just walked back from the shops thinking I needed to improve my country style guitar. What a cool coincidence of timing to see this drop now.
Grady Martin is my favorite. May God rest his soul. Best take away is viewing the tabs along with the fingerin'. That helps understanding.
Thank you so much for a great lesson. My favorite is Roy Clark, Glen Campbell, Keith Urban, Merle Haggard, Brad Paisley, the list goes on and on...you get my point. They are all great! Roy Nichols, Bret Mason, Albert Lee - Take away = Practice with backing track

Sincerely one of the best teachers on TH-cam...really had a couple great breakthroughs today! Thank you!!! My favourite is Merle Haggard, this lesson was a great eye-opener, thanks Dave UK.
It's amazing I have been struggling for some time, now I understand . Thanks.
I’m loving these TASTY tutorials
I have been playing guitar since 1964 and found your major scale position method very useful. Been playing quite a while and never thought about it this way. Game changer. If I could only watch one video, this is it.
this is huge for me.... brent mason and the multiplier.... i never thought of this that way... your a outstanding teacher!!!
Favorite Country Artist: Waylon Jennings My biggest takeaway: Being able to take the 1,3,5 and use those and the notes to create an exponential endless run of riffs and solos. Great concept Sir. The possibilities are truly endless!
My dad was one of his guitarists
Eddie, love these breaks in my week. GMM has been nothing but one inspiration after another. Thanks!!!!!
My favorite country guitarists: Ricky Skaggs #1/ Albert Lee. #2
I mainly picked up on how “chord tones” operate in soloing over 1/4/5 progression.
I would suggest Johnny Hiland if you haven't heard about him of course :)
Even though I'm from India I had love at first listen with country music and your lessons are helping me a lot... Thanks Eddie 🤭
Rolling Stone's are my favorite Country BandNow if I do this every day for a week maybe I will remember, no choice is a must. Thank you for busting down a wall

My favorite guitar player is James Burton. He is the master of the telecaster. He has a way of using these little hooks to draw you in and is the best country blues player all rolled into one.
Agree. Grew up on Ricky Nelson and Elvis & didn't know who James Burton Was.
What! you made it so simple and easy to follow. As you said, "complete game changer". You are an excellent teacher. Thank you.
Hey Eddie, I don't have a favorite country guitar player. Best take away is being able to move licks to play along with different chords. Great lesson!

You are awesome Eddie. Love your guitar work xx
Eddie, you are an outstanding GUITARIST, in any genre! I'm into your "box" blues in any key!
#1 Best Guitarist Definitely Brad Paisley, #2 Notes I've been running over all my life are just now being defined and recognized!! Thanks

1. Andy Wood as Country Guitar Player
2. 1st 3rd 5th of the Major Scale...and the licks
Awesome job as an instructor.
Eddie,
You are tooo good, I enjoyed every bit and ready to jam with country solo. Thank you once again.
I am with you and the Brad, and I liked the slide in!!
Best guitar channel for learning❤️. Thank you so much. We owe you a lot
This is one of the best videos on Utube.
Thank you so much! You Rock! Country Rock! Amazing lesson!
Thank you. An outstanding lesson. 👍👍👍
Glad you liked it!
Greatly explained.....like your little hints as much as the main lesson
This was a lightbulb moment thanks so much!#
Fantastic lesson Eddie!
Awesome lesson. Just what I was looking for!,,,,
Just a great lesson getting to understand how it all comes together ''Great Eddie''
Thanks mate.. really great lesson ,,
