I was obviously in a bad mood when I left the comment. "Shitbird" is from "Harley-Davidson and the Marlboro Man" so I figured you'd get the reference and realize it was a light-hearted poke at you and not meant as a violent, tacky insult. My point in the matter was people seem to criticize others' music but never offer any examples of their own creativity, only criticisms, and they do say "if you have nothing nice to say..." Thus DIJ fans would probably get a bit irked by your comment.
If you have any old CDs you want to sell, I might be interested in taking them off your hands. DIJ shit is HARD to find, and when you do it tends to be expensive or difficult to obtain or both. Sucks! He's pretty slick at merchandising too! Honestly if I hadn't seen the interviews I might not have liked him as much, but when I listen to him away from the music I see what good friends we would have made IRL and the commonalities. He even lived for a time in my hometown, TUCSON. Small World!!!!!!!
I envy you for being a longtime fan! i learned of them in 92 but dismissed them as a white power band like Skrewdriver without giving the MUSIC an actual chance. BIG mistake. I could have been enjoying his great music and what a character he is in interviews and lyrically. I just recently (1.5 years ago) rediscovered them and really liked what I heard. A lot of it is basically 3 and 4 chord folk pop but his lyrics are poignant and biting and his voice soothes me and the whole vibe just clicks.

What I meant to point out is that for me Death In June sadly evolved into a "beer-fest band" from what initially was avant garde. Seen them several times live (4 or 5 in all) and I must admit that with every next live performance it was nothing special. Respectful to a degree yes, but in total a washed-down-the-drain philosophy. Acoustic doodling is especially annoying in this context, banalising everything that might have been far less primitive and tasteless in that matter.
Like a fine vintage wine, Pearce blossoms and develops better and better as the years pass.
That show happens 5 days after the legendary Eisleben-Show. Which explains the beardless appearance of Douglas. Thanks for upload.
