    Hey everyone! Today, I added some more LUTs. Therefore, the list shown in the video is not accurate anymore. For further information, please check the link in the description. :)
    Here is what's new as of today (2024-08-03):
    - all missing LUTs for Canon, so everything is covered now
    - added Olympus Flat and OM-Log 400
    - added F-Log 2
    - added Sony HLG

    I've been following your channel since the beginning pretty much and I use your lightroom controls plugin for the past couple of months and it has been a game changer for my workflow. Now I'm looking to improve my talking head videos and I love the warm tones in your videos. I'd love to see if I could replicate this look but I'm not sure where to start equipment? luts? plugins? This would make for an interesting topic for a video.

    • @iamericlenz
      @iamericlenz  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great to hear! Thank you very much! The warmth comes mostly through my lighting setup. Lighting makes a tremendous difference and this is, in my opinion, the best skill you can learn. Additionally, the warm look in my videos is caused by a 2383 print film emulation and halation. Both warm up the highlights considerably. But if you're new to it, I'd say don't bother with film emulation for now. This is quite a thing to get into. Learn the basics first. :)
      TL;DR: Learn Lighting & a solid foundation of colour grading and you're good to go. :)

    It would be interesting if you can do a hands-on HDR-PQ (BT2100 or BT 2020) color grade, in the future. There is not so much info in the "market" especially for final cut pro.

    You do such and excellent job explaining. Glad I found your channel. While this all makes sense in FCP, I’m trying to figure out how to use this technique in FCP for the iPad. I do realize that at this point additional luts cannot be added to FCP iPad at this point. The iPad version allows the Apple Log LUt and several others to be added upon import or removed. I cannot find anyway of insuring that the LUT is below the Color Adjustment Effect. Do you have any experience with the iPad version?

    • @iamericlenz
      @iamericlenz  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m sorry but this is not possible in the iPad version. Support for LUTs isn’t there yet and the effects are rather limited. However, it is a fairly new application in the grand scheme of things and I have heard talks about plugins coming to the iPad version. I can imagine LUT support will come for the iPad sooner or later, but as it is right not, there is no way you can get that right on the iPad.

    Hey! These are great thanks so much! I have a question, I use CinemaGrade for all editing. It appears that the only way for it to work correctly is for it to be below the Custom LUT, is that normal?

    • @iamericlenz
      @iamericlenz  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not too sure about cinema grade. If you use it for look development, you can put it after the LUT, that isn't too bad. But if you use it for your general colour grading, it should work before the LUT.
      But maybe it has a built in colour space transformation? I don't know - sorry. Never used it.

    Hi Eric, always been a fan of your plugins. I have a question. I mostly travel and shoot using an iphone + blackmagic app on apple log. For some scenarios where I don’t have my laptop with me to color grade, I record with your lut applied in the BM app. Is that even a good idea? Will it make a difference if I choose to color grade those footage later on?

    • @iamericlenz
      @iamericlenz  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! Well, if you bake the LUT in, then what you see is what you get and there is nothing to be gained. However, if you're just using the LUT for monitoring and the LUT is not applied to the recording, then you have all the flexibility you can get.
      Baking LUTs in is not a bad idea for run-and-gun scenarios but you lose any additional information. So make sure your image looks the way you want it to look. :)

    Thank you, Eric! I didn't really get the "Sony LUT" joke because you wiped but didn't change the LUT Title. I had to watch it a few times to try and understand. How did you make these LUTs? Are they made by LUTCalc? ...or Davinci Resolve CST?

    • @iamericlenz
      @iamericlenz  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Glad it was helpful! Dang, I forgot to change the title. Yes, it switches to the Sony LUT. I made the LUTs using Resolve's CST where possible but I added in a few tweaks to make them work as seamless as possible in FCP. However, I'm now entering the territory of gammas not present in Resolve, like D-Log M or F-Log 2. This means I have to work off the white paper. :)

      Yes, it's the same in premiere. I don't have it but I just checked in with a friend who edits in premiere. If you apply a LUT in the Lumetri Colour panel, it will be applied first.
      The way to go is using an adjustment layer that carries the LUT. Then you can make adjustments to the clips underneath. :)

      The Custom LUT effect has a built-in tool to map Rec2020 to Rec709. However, the LUT takes care of everything so you can leave it at Rec709 to Rec709. If the input matches the output, it does nothing.
