Mr.Welchs review on the same module: • Welcome to Mystara: Wh...
Written back in 1983 by the TSR UK design team.
Combining time travel, parallel worlds, advanced technology, a borg like enemy (pre borg by the way), greek themes, this one is a bit of an epic adventure. All crammed into only 24 pages. Set for levels 17-19 of BECMI, this one is a bit out there, but fun.
Some people may like to compare this to Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, but this has a different feel to it, Yes it does have a sci-fi component to it, but thats really the only connecting factor. The PCs will instead of exploring a crashed ship, will be trying to stop this advanced enemy from meddling with the past and preserve magic.
Yay more BECMI content.
I get back to it sometimes 😅, unfortunately most of my BECMI experience is up to expert, I’ve never made it to companion plus
@@TheLostAdventurer Yeah that's fair it's hard to get a group to play that long or get into a campaign to that degree.
Great to see you again Adventurer :) I was afraid that this time you got lost for good.
Sometimes it just takes a while for me to find my way back!
Nice review. Sounds like a fun adventure.
Sadly there was a lot of great creatures in this one that never got used again
The Oard were just one of them. I was a big fan of the Odic too, I just didn’t fit them into this review. I have no idea how you’re able to pull off making your videos more compact, even when I try it still ends up being near 20 minutes long
@@TheLostAdventurer I put myself on a hard page count. Also I edited a magazine for over a decade. Lot of experience cutting things down to size
I can’t pull it off 😅, my life experience is the opposite, they always wanted more details for everything that could, would, or did happen. I gotta throw your video up in the descriptor
great video! welcome back
Thanks man!
Wooooo he's back!
Welcome back! Damn...this adventure seems like a crazy Doctor Who episode 😮
6 Gary's on small Rocs. DAMN YOU, GARY!!
lol, looks like I missed one of the Auto corrects 😅, I award you 5 internet points
The Gary Menace!
@@stephenclements6158 damn Gary’s, ruining everything
Ha ha ha ha gaaaary
I bought this one when it first came out due to the parallel world concept. That seems to be its weakest component, though. The adventure is all over the place, but it could work in the recent Planegea setting or perhaps be part of (Mystaran) Blackmoor's history. The Oard would be servants of the E.G.G. of Coot.
I looked up Aelos, and there’s a theory that Aelos is the known world, but upside down
@@TheLostAdventurer I must admit that is a new one to me.
Even though I never got to run (nor play) it, I really like this module. (It's a great read.)
It even inspired me to design my own D&D ruleset/ campaign called "Lineage". (which, sadly, I subsequently lost my only copy of & haven't had the time nor inclination to recreate from scratch.)
Basically, your "time travel" takes the form of playing a multi-generational campaign. (Each character is some sort of descendant of the previous one.) And (depending on your actions/ accomplishments) the following generations get stronger & stronger (or possibly weaker). Until you eventually battle the BBEG! (Demogorgon)
There's really no other mapmaker from that era like Graeme Morris. Did it all, strategic, tactical, dungeon maps with such style.
I didn’t realize he was the map maker, but it makes sense now that all his adventures have an excellent map overview. Thanks for the information!
I've played this through back in the day with my brothers and some friends. I remember it fondly, it is one of the adventures that has stuck in my head. I guess time travel was mind blowing experience for a young kid (I am the youngest, and must've been somewhere 10-12 years old) :D I thought to use this in one of my current campaigns. Thanks for the quick review, I remember the plot now much more clear. Very nice!
Hey man are you alright? I just got notification that the memberships are paused. Anyway I hope all is well with you.
@@BX-advocate I am, I’ve demonetized the channel though, it didn’t think it was fair since I wasn’t able to give it the attention it needs. Life is busy. Channels not dead, I’m not going to delete it, and I’ll add things when I can. I need to write a community message on it. Thank you BC-Advocate!
@TheLostAdventurer Thanks for letting me know. It is honourable for you to not monetize when you aren't making content, that's why I really like and respect your channel because you're a done to earth good guy. Anyway I hope all is well with you and whatever is going on with your life that it is all for the best.
when are you coming back :(
@@YandhiLover87 yeah, I do these as a work of passion, not trying to get rich off of em, and right now with how things are, I’m sort of running on fumes.
On the positive side I’ve been thinking of ways to change how I make the videos so it’s not so time consuming 😅
@@TheLostAdventurer its ok, at least you're doing well!
