The Takase River is a logistics canal built by wealthy merchant "Suminokura" in the early Edo period and runs through the area around Ponto-cho, the busiest district in Kyoto. Takase-bune, a flat-bottomed boat used on the shallow river, was named after this boat and thus the name Takase-gawa.
In the original story by Mori Ogai, it says, “Running eastward, with the houses of Kyoto town on both banks, it crosses the Kamo River and descends,” but looking at the map, it runs north-south, so I changed the first part of this version to “north-south”.

    Love the channel.
Suggestion: can you consider choosing a slightly darker background besides white? It's really hard to read now that we are so used to Dark Mode.

    Your videos are great.
If I could make a suggestion, it would be to highlight the word that is being read as you read it.
This additional feature would be extremely useful to a beginner like me.
Please if you could do that it would be greatly appreciated it. 🥺😊
