Just got scammed out of $16,500 while buying a 2012 toyota sequoia. The odometer rolled back and true mileage is 290k miles almost but odometer reads 115k miles. Full video here and read description and pinned comment on the video.

If we collectively stop buying their inferior products, they’ll put less money into marketing, private jets, and yachts and more money into US and Canadian plants, parts, materials, and quality control. They might throw in a few new reliable food stamp sedans and hatchbacks with reliability that is actually competitive with Toyota. Offer Bose systems as standard on the highest trim level chevies even the cheapest models but would be 2 5-1/4 inch midbass drivers, 2 1-inch tweeters, 2 2.75-inch full range drivers, and a 5.25 inch richbass woofer, only 7 speakers but still sounds much better than the crappy AC Delco system.

But even the lowest models with only FM stereo and no cassette sounded really good. Nice sound system was always a strong selling point for all GM vehicles. Besides the PU trucks and vans of course, those sounded tinny. Mostly all the GM cars used 6X9" back deck and 4x6" for the dash speakers. Aside from from some Cadillac and olds and buick that used 4x10" in the rear deck.

I work IT now, but when I worked in construction, the 2017 Silverados they had in the fleet were pretty good! This truck is not necessarily bad, just needs someone to invest time and money in it. Problem with that is, manufacturers, warranties, and people alike would rather replace it than spend time and money correcting the issue. 5k max and if you live in cold weather or drive a lot of short trips, I would change it sooner than that. Direct injection is a big part of the problem these days. DI gas engines make soot that's more like diesel soot than the soot from an old gas engine. It sticks to parts inside the engine and the oil has a harder time preventing soot formations. Synthetic oils have the downside of forming deposits if the engine gets driven in cold weather for short distances where the engine doesn't get hot. Those deposits can build up and restrict oil flow as well. Despite all that, I know guys with over 200k miles that never had a lifter problem. They are the kind of guys that never bought into the idea that because you use full synthetic you're good for 7500 miles or even 5000 miles. They still change their oil like old timers every 2500 or 3000 miles. Gotta keep the oil clean.

Just came back from videos about all the Toyota& Lexus recalls, component failures at low mileages.. Almost made me look at my 5.7 Hemi and smile but I know it isn't far down the breakdown list either. Looks like the automobile industry is really in a dark place, and reliability isn't something we would get anytime soon.

Lol I don't tow anything over couple thousand pounds. Duramax I was going to get but I only got this one because it came from an older guy. I had a older tundra that I only sold for home purchase but this Chevy now has a new engine and when it goes out I will get it replaced again and after warranty I will put a cam in it and none DOD lifters. No lesson learned I'm a mechanic and was well aware of these issues. Not my first rodeo

Sorry to hear about this truck. I have all old cars but one and a it’s a 2021. Very new to me. I hope it will last but I have a feeling my old ones will still be going after the new one has problems. Cars are much safer than they used to be but a lot of build quality has gone to the dogs. It seems that the newer domestics are junk with a huge price tag. It’s a shame people work so hard to afford high car payments and end up with burdens. The car manufacturers should pay.
