I love his playing. I actually can' t believe what happens at 9 minutes is humanly possible though.

I agree it's mind boggling. But also impossible to synthesize. Punch that fella in the mouth you'd break your knuckles.

It isn't. It is two separate tracks (potentially Bb trumpet and piccolo) that have been spliced together in the studio. He is a fantastic player, but these recordings come from an album entitled 'trumpet fantasy', which features more than its fair share of 'trumpet deceptions'. Nevertheless, he has a lovely sound!

    • @trumpetbrain7302

@@defaultsplace1348 This recording came from a studio album, with all manner of editing tricks, the video you are referring to is from a series of videos which are simply slotted over the top of the studio recordings. The videos definitely do not constitute a live performance as there are multiple instances where he can clearly be heard playing a piccolo trumpet, but is shown on Bb, and so very little attention was paid to authenticity. If you listen carefully to the album and the 'live' videos you will hear the recording is the same.
The studio album is entitled 'Trumpet Fantasy', the video series was made shortly after the release to accompany it and, presumably, promote discussion and excitement for the album.
That is to take nothing away from his wonderful sound but, equally, this is not a live performance and I am not aware that he has ever performed this live, nor would he ever attempt to. At 9:00 there is studio editing, the low notes and high ornaments are played separately and spliced together. He has multiple social media outlets so is more than welcome to post a home video of him genuinely playing that section. However, until such a time, it is fairly clear that the later variations are all dubbed together, potentially even using different keyed trumpets too.
If you need more evidence, watch his 'Mexican Hot Dance' video from the same series, on the audio he clearly changes to piccolo about 10 seconds in, but is shown playing 'effortlessly' on the Bb trumpet. It is, to say the least, disingenuous and, in my opinion, a very unnecessary deception considering he is such a fantastic player anyway.
