Thank you, Travis. We just got new carpet a year ago, then recently adopted a rescue dog who refuses to house-train. Walking into our house now, after being outside for even a few minutes, you can smell the stench. I will go to your site to see what we can do to get rid of the odor. I've attempted to treat pee areas as soon as I find them, but one of our kids has tried to hide it from me by attempting to clean it herself, which has only made it worse now.

I had a rental proptery that didn't have the protective barrier on the pad and over time the dog urine soaked through the pad and down into the wooden subfloor. The padding literally melted into the wood and I had to take a scraper to scrape the padding up off the wooden subfloor and then put three coats of primer to cover up the urine odor before laying new flooring. I will NEVER lay carpet again without the protective layer on the padding.
